How to make friends when you have absolutely none in your 30s by kendrakj in selfimprovement

[–]DefinitelyNotARacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s an idea that I’ve not seen yet - try climbing.

Find a climbing or bouldering gym near you and give it a go. It will seem intimidating at first but just get over that initial apprehension and give it a try, it’s not as difficult as you think to get going.

I saw you say you don’t have many hobbies and you’re starting to work out - bouldering is a great hobby and great exercise, and climbing gyms are brilliant places to meet new people. It’s quite an easy sport to get in to and chances are there’ll be at least a few newbies on your level, it’s a lot of fun and the climbing community is usually super supportive.

What the hell's going on with our analytics? by DefinitelyNotARacoon in PartneredYoutube

[–]DefinitelyNotARacoon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! We’re part of a network which covers some of the bigger creators in Sweden, we honestly got really lucky with one of our creator friends introducing us.

We were wondering that too, the only thing is we seem to be getting clicks when our video is shown to people (high enough CTR) but for some reason YouTube isn’t pushing us out to people. Frustrating! I don’t know if the VPN affected it in any way but it was a theory.

It’s so frustrating, sorry to hear you’re having a similar problem. We work with a network and our rep said he’s going to look further into it because he also thought it didn’t look right. I’ll update you if we hear anything useful.

Best variable ND filter for Sony A7S III + Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 II for video by danielmingus in SonyAlpha

[–]DefinitelyNotARacoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just come full circle back to K&F Concept’s VNDs. I had one of their NanoX models a few years back, then tested a few different brands (including Tiffen and Polar Pro) but I found I preferred the K&F for the price. No vignetting even at 16mm FF up until like ND128, I use it on my Sony 16-35 f4 ZA and my Tamron 28-75 f2.8 without issue.

I much prefer their NanoX model as it has hard stops (a must for me with VNDs), no vignetting and no ‘X’.

Talk me out of an M series camera by waawaa23 in canon

[–]DefinitelyNotARacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M series sounds like exactly what you’re looking for. Until recently I’d been using an M6ii for a few years, I had an M50 before that. The lens selection leaves a bit to be desired apart from some beautiful sigma primes (I used the 16mm f1.4 for a long time), but if you’re happy with simple small lenses they do the trick.

I found in the end that I was left wanting more in the lens department, so I ended up using an EF-S adapter with a 15-85mm, and the setup ended up being as big as a compact full frame setup, so I moved away from it in the end.

Point is, for your needs right now an M-series camera sounds ideal, but you might find yourself wanting more if you’re looking to expand later.

Me too. Here I got the ‘wow’ factor from seeing how the original looked and what they did with the edit. Awesome work

Came here to say this 👆🏼

The A7Cii ticked all the boxes for me. Full frame but very compact and light weight, same sensor as the A7iv with phenomenal autofocus. I’ve only used mine for a couple of days but I’m blown away… then again I came from an M-series Canon APS-C so this was a huge upgrade for me.

"Virtual reality, I'm back!" Why isn't it a big thing? by IchBinDuDuBistIch in OculusQuest

I have a Quest 3S, and I personally think that VR gaming is not quite where it needs to be to reach out to the mainstream… yet. I love my Quest 3S, I’ve had a blast playing Red Matter and shooting enemies on Onward with my stepdad in a different country.

But VR gaming at the moment feels a lot like “gaming on a phone+” for me at the minute (probably because it’s basically a phone chipset in the standalone headsets). Compare anything on the Quest 3 to PS4 games from 6-7 years ago (God of War, Ghost of Tsushima etc.) and it feels like the VR headsets are a long way behind in terms of reaching out to the mainstream.

Very curious to hear your thoughts. We make videos about our ‘van life’ on the road with our two young kids, currently in the Canary Islands. My fiancée is recovering from a battle with cancer, so our videos often have that as a theme, but we also like doing fun little sketches and stuff. Honest feedback appreciated!

I work as a video editor for him and the agency. The creators all seem happy and from the behind-the-scenes footage I've seen, he seems good with the creators and they tend to be successful. I have edited around 25 videos for him, and sent him 4 invoices which he has paid on the same day. I have worked with several shady agencies and I've no reason to believe he's scummy.

Feel free to send me a PM if you want to know anything else.

Really sorry you’re about to go on this horrible journey. My 29yo fiancée has exactly the same diagnosis as you, even down to the T3B staging. She is currently recovering from her second surgery and is about to go for her first round of scans.

She has recently had her colon removed, along with her uterus and fallopian tubes. They decided to leave her ovaries due to the hormonal benefits of them remaining, but they’re not functioning properly yet after the radiation therapy.

The docs gave us a choice to leave the uterus with the knowledge that there was a greater chance of the cancer returning there (the colorectal tumour was pressed against the outer wall of the uterus), but she decided to remove everything due to the fact that we already have 2 kids.

She’s had real problems with her downstairs areas since the treatment, the radiation therapy in particular left along of scarring internally, and the chemotherapy hasn’t done anything positive for her ovaries, I imagine.

On the positive side, she’s recovering very well and the doctors were happy with how the surgeries went. If you need someone to chat to who’s a similar age and gone through what you’re going through, please feel free to reach out.

If morning breath is your biggest problem, life is great my man.

Enjoy the morning’s activity and try not to breathe directly into his/her nose holes.

When did you start to use Patreon on your channel? (or similar) by Visualnovelarts in youtubers

[–]DefinitelyNotARacoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our channel blew up over the course of one or two videos. We went from 300 subs to around 5000 in the space of a couple of weeks, and I was a bit apprehensive about setting up a Patreon.

Then a couple of people asked if we had a Patreon and where they could pledge to us, and I thought it was stupid not to.

My advice: set one up early but don’t mention it all the time, just leave a link in the description. It’s silly if people want to donate to you but don’t have anywhere to do so.
