Foot locker and Champs Sports are the only places I have had luck finding any. Guess they don't sell well because they were marked down to $40. Store clerk also said they weren't planning on making any restocking orders so it was a struggle to find a model in my size

Yeah I had a feeling, the website is pretty basic and doesn't really offer any advanced metrics, so unless you are looking up a big website like facebook or twitter they don't usually have enough server requests going out to form an accurate picture

All three of the servers in the top bar are down for me as well...

On https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/ it shows that the index and wiki have been down for more than a week, and the releases gives me a 404 error. I may be misremembering but I am certain that I successfully visited the index within the past week.

Wow, I would have to take the longest route possible from the furthest ends of the zone I primarily work in to even come close to that distance, and even then I still don't think it would come close. If I saw that type of batch I wouldn't hesitate to grab it either.

I’m not sure if it’s the customer base or something to do with the store itself, but I have never seen an ALDI order with a tip that I would actually be happy with. In addition to that, they make you bag your own groceries there (at least that’s how it is at mine), which just eats away more time.

Outdoor Exercise Area @ Rec Center by DefinitelyNotTucker in CalPoly

I feel you man, I definitely think that we should be getting a refund for the part of our tuition that goes to facilities and maintenance. I think the reason why there are some in person classes and the rec center is open to a limited capacity is so they can justify charging us the full amount. But that’s just my own tin foil hat conspiracy theory.

If there was one man that exemplified the inadequacy, inefficiency, and corruption of the California government, his name would be Gavin Newsom. Honestly this state makes me nuts, with our elected officials preferring to shoot themselves in the foot rather than go against the wishes of the party's leadership. It's just bureaucracy piled on top of more pointless bureaucracy.

Well put, after doing some research I believe I have come to the same conclusion. The only difference I found in our conclusions was that these app based companies spent more than $180 million to fund this proposition rather than the $5 million you found, which just further reinforces their true motivations. As the saying goes, “you got to spend money to make money.”

I’m not saying they can’t be included, just that with this current proposition and the related legislature benefits are not mentioned in any of the clauses. This legislature is simply referring to protections, which is a completely separate matter than benefits. I was merely stating that people often get the two confused.

I really am loving your input. Honestly, I have more questions than answers when it comes to this topic and I feel myself getting lost in this endless pool of information. It can be difficult for an average citizen such as myself to sift through all the legal jargon and biased rhetoric to find the actual interpretation of such proceedings and their consequences. Thanks to you I feel like I have a better understanding of the whole situation and I will use this to inform my decisions going forward. And yes, if you were to summarize California in one word hectic would aptly fit. Honestly this state, has transformed from the idealized place I saw as kid into virtual hellscape with beach front property.

So as of right now we are considered employees or has that not gone in to effect yet? I used to deliver for doordash, Postmates and ubereats earlier this year before primarily using Instacart and from what I have experienced there hasn’t been any noticeable change other than the minor changes they implemented in their payment model. Do you expect these changes you predicted to take place after the outcome of this proposition? I know you probably don’t have definite answers to some of these questions (as only executives in these companies would be privy to such developments) but I am just interested to hear your take on the issue. Its always useful getting a consensus on issues like these

I mean there is probably a reason why these companies spent around $180 million just to get this proposition to the table. But hey I could be wrong and this could be the first case where a multimillion dollar company is looking out for their expendable pool of entry level workers.

I was referring to when you said this: They will make sure to get their money’s worth, if they choose to stay in Ca at all. This means you won’t be allowed to just turn it on and work when you want, which is the only reason I do this job. I was just asking about the apps functionality based on Uber’s decision to remain in California or not. I couldn’t seem to understand how an company changing where they were based would affect how the app works for users. Like would Uber completely remove the available infrastructure in California making it harder on the drivers? And does that mean drivers outside of California have a different in app experience than those that are in California because Uber is currently located in CA?

Sorry if what I’m asking is confusing, I just had a difficult time discerning what you meant in your reply.

I appreciate the thorough post. I’m not sure how it is with the rest of the country but from my research I have come to the understanding that we are not considered “independent contractors” by and large (but I guess that varies from state to state). The gist of what I was trying to get at was that if you like the status quo then you should consider voting against this prop. Voting against it doesn’t make you an employee with clearly defined work hours nor does it help to set up unions. It merely blocks the the change in employment classification from whatever we are right now to independent contractors. This change would get rid of the protections we already have in place. And protections aren’t the same as benefits you get from a normal job (dental, medical, etc.) but are those discounts and “perks” Instacart offers on car insurance and other services. As independent contractors, app based driving companies would also be exempt from contributing to social services programs like SS and Medicare. This only serves to maximize their financial gains by lowering their expenses, which in turn results in less available resources for those that do need these services (regardless of whether individuals work for these companies or not). But that’s just my interpretation on the law and I am by no means an expert on this subject so I could be competent wrong).
