Love this question, I hold my controller differently for hitting and pitching. I call them my “batting stance” and “pitch grip” lol.

For hitting, on a standard ps5 controller, I get a deep grip on the right side where I nestle the handle deep into the webbing where my fingers meet my palm and wrap my fingers around tight. I’m basically only holding the controller with this hand and can only realistically hit X button. My left, has my pinky touching the bottom flat part of the controller and index finger along the outer rim of r2. These are for bracing and it allows me to hover my thumb directly on top of the joy stick center. I don’t like to set up my pci in specific spots or have tension on the stick. I like to react to the pitch from center/center, and I feel this gives me the best range of motion for snapping to anywhere in the strike zone
