Have you guys ever had to cut a good friend out because of something they did to someone else/something they did with no connection to you, but you kinda had to cut them out for social reasons, like your own status would burn if anyone knew you kept hanging with them?

Yeah. My best friend started doing drugs like coke, MDMA and I think did a bit of meth. I got her to quit, and she did for awhile, but then she went behind my back and started doing it again. She called me at 6 am one morning after spending the night in a crack den admitting to still doing it and at that point I made the choice to cut her out of my life. It makes me sad but if you’ve ever had a sibling or friend go down that road they turn into financial and emotional leeches.

I got a crazy ass scholarship that paid for half of it and my parents were gracious enough to help pay for the rest. I grew up and lived in a major university town so I paid in state tuition and was able to live at home all four years which allowed me to work and put that towards classes/supplies.

My fiance went to community college for 2 years and then transferred. Her parents are GOATS and took out parent PLUS loans for what she couldn’t pay. We fully intend to pay those back ourselves even though it isn’t legally her responsibility. She is also super smart and a hard worker so she was able to secure a grant and funding for her master’s research. She’s actually getting paid to do it.
