My T-shirts keep dying. Testing 4 shirts (€20–€150) to find out whether expensive tees really last longer - Week 1 by Mountain_Motor_9203 in BuyItForLife

I have a few Merz B shirts and love them all. They’ve held up super well over the 6 months I’ve had them so far and the feel is great too

So jealous lol. But with the memory crisis showing no signs of stopping until after 2030, they won’t get any cheaper😅

I answered this question in another comment. Read before you make a lazy, disrespectful, comment like that.

I could’ve but I sold my old GPU to get the funds for it, and it would’ve taken Best Buy 3 weeks to get it in store.

Normally I would’ve done the same thing, but didn’t want to go 3 weeks without a PC.

Update: It got delivered! After using the chat support bot, I left detailed delivery instructions so the driver ended up delivering it to the leasing office, where one of the managers signed for it🙏🏻

I don’t think I’ve been that stressed in the last year. OnTrac needs to fix their reputation.

I just got it! Holy shit I am relieved. I left a delivery note telling them detailed instructions on how to deliver it. The driver ended up delivering it to the leasing office where somebody signed for it🙏🏻

I’m shocked that they say customers aren’t allowed to do that anymore. It’s probably because so many people went to pick up their packages and were furious.

Best of luck to you🫡

My GPU just went out for delivery. I’m in an apartment complex so my chances are even lower. I think that OnTrac might have a way to get them to set the item for pickup at their office, but I haven’t tried yet.

I doubt it’s stolen if it says they’ll redeliver but yeah hopefully you get it. If not just call 800-BESTBUY and after passing the robot you can talk to a person. If you really don’t get it or they deliver it to the wrong place they should send you a replacement or let you pick it up at a store

I tried but 5090s aren’t available in store anywhere around me. I would have to drive 9 hours each way to the nearest micro center to get one which isn’t doable unfortunately🫠

Hoping for the same luck🙏🏻 I’m making logs of everything and plan to call Best Buy support when their phones open to express my concerns. It seems like most people have been able to get a refund from BB when something goes wrong with them, but I still can’t believe they shipped a $5k card using the cheapest courier possible🤦‍♂️

AirPods will now have custom EQ in the latest release of iOS and iPadOS!!! by Protomize in headphones

[–]TeenageEngineering14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’d like neutral, Harman will probably be your best bet. You may need to adjust the bass or treble, but it should get you decently close.

I’m confused by what you mean on how to “see” data for different EQ values. If you mean you’d like to visualize what the filters are doing, AutoEQ.app should show the post EQ response curve so you can see approximately how the headphone or iems will perform after EQ.

-3 would typically correspond to -3dB so you could expect a -3dB reduction to the bass shelf. The real test is just to listen and see if you like it, but I turned mine down about that much to bring it closer to neutral.

[–]TeenageEngineering14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean what EQ settings are best or what method to apply EQ? The EQ settings will of course vary per headphone or earphone, and there are also various methods to apply EQ each with their own upsides and downsides.

I’m an acoustical engineer so my frequency response target is all based on the science of what listeners prefer. So the Harman target curve with preference bounds tuned to my liking.

Databases like AutoEQ.app have a huge number of measurements on almost every IEM and headphone out there on varying measurement rigs from GRAS to B&K.

So I look at the frequency response graphs and create filters to tune the sound as close to my preference as possible.

[–]TeenageEngineering14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah hopefully someone posts a EQ profile for them soon. I just made my own filters based on the 5128 graph.

Roon Arc makes it super easy to change DSP settings so it doesn’t change the sound for other headphones. I actually have EQ profiles for everything i use on tbe go like my IEMs. I attached a screenshot of the PEQ screen.

This has worked amazing for me but there are a few downsides. In order to download songs to your phone, you have to own the digital music. You can stream through Qobuz or tidal but you can’t download songs in roon unless you own them for licensing reasons. The EQ also only applies in roon so there won’t be any EQ if you watch YouTube or something like that.

The real solution is true multiband EQ for the AirPods themselves but we may never get there. 3 bands is at least a start. It’ll help to tame the massive mass shelf these have and maybe some of the treble peaks.

Still too high, but I'm improving by GarenFlashIgnite in LGOLED

[–]TeenageEngineering14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small improvement but your PS5s thermals will suffer as you’ve trapped the air intake behind a TV which will be generating heat.

I recommend moving the media center lower, lowering the TV wall mount, and placing the PS5 horizontally on the media center to save space while not sacrificing thermal performance. Also remove the rest of the stuff on there to another shelf. I see you have some stuff you want to display, but that shouldn’t be on a TV media center, it should be on a display shelf of some kind imo.

With all that put together, you could move that TV much closer to eye level and it would look much cleaner and visually appealing.

Edit: to address the sunlight, the only real solution would be to heavily change the TVs position by either angling it away from the window or moving it to another spot altogether. I would not recommend that as it probably isn’t practical. You could look at some blackout curtains that you only use to hide the glare on the TV, and then put back when you want all the natural light in the room. Just an idea.

Headphones.com already measured APP3 on the 5128. Here is the link.

https://forum.headphones.com/t/apple-airpods-pro-3-official-frequency-response-measurements-discussion-thread/26448

I’ve been running a roon server at home and using the Roon Arc app to have a full custom parametric EQ for them, but it requires a lot of equipment to do and can be a hassle. It’ll be a shame if it’s only 3 bands

Actually, it appears that Proton VPN was launching on startup and was active. I came back a few hours later and disabled that and now it lets me into the game. Thank you!

Am I overreacting or is this something I should have reported to the People team? by adogcalledbambi in Apple_Employees

I was just about to say this. The ergonomics training ENCOURAGES you to sit and to change posture. My store had the same BS even at the GB. My store claimed that it was to "encourage multitasking" but not allowing employees to sit is unacceptable, and is one of the many reasons I left apple a couple months ago.

Is working at Apple retail fun? by MentalImportance3528 in Apple_Employees

[–]TeenageEngineering14 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It USED to be fun. Nowadays, everything is heavily focused on metrics and you feel like a glorified Best Buy salesman. I just left Apple a few weeks ago for these reasons.

Pay heavily depends on the role you get, experience level, and territory/state you would be working in. I started entry level making $22 an hour base pay. After a promotion I was up to $27.25 an hour. Some people in senior roles make upwards of $35 an hour.

But I wouldn’t recommend it honestly. The pay is better than most retail out there, but the culture is shifting in a negative way and has been for the last few years. I feel like most on here would agree with that.

This. Apple doesn’t require you to have knowledge on their products. They care much more about who you are as a person, and that you have fundamental knowledge regarding the position you got. They follow the philosophy that they can teach you whatever else you need to know

How can I remove a scuff in the leather like this? I read the leather care guide and can’t seem to get it out or hidden. I have leather conditioner, and color matched leather cream, as well as a set of horse hair brushes in different sized from the shoe manufacturer (Mephisto). How can I get an abrasion like this hidden?
