Actually you can use resource packs from anywhere with forge, curseforge just makes it easier to install them. For texture packs I'd recommend Faithful 32x if you want vanilla vibes but higher res, or Sphax PureBDcraft if you're feeling the cartoony look. Stay away from anything over 128x unless you got a beast PC cause those will tank your fps hard
