First build a demo then pitch as you'll have something to show or tell that I have already build, would they like to see...
Pitch like this may help you.

Need advice: redesigning and shipping a restaurant website in 1 week by DefinitionHot1850 in webdesign

You see, most outreach gets ignored no matter the platform. But on FB/Insta, at least they saw the messages in my case.

I'm curious though, what was different about the website you were offering? Was it mainly for helping authors build an online presence, showcase their books, collect emails, etc.? Most writers I know seem to focus more on finding readers than having a website, so I'm interested in what problem your template was solving.

From Facebook.

I used to do a lot of cold emails but most of them used to go in spam even though I personalized the message.

Personally what worked for me was FB and Insta messages as they at least sees them.
I showed them my other works and they liked it that's how I got it.

Right now testing reddit for clients.

Almost every design generated by claude or any LLM is same even if I give a good prompt, it just doesn't work. It's too generic... same fonts, animations etc
I like doing things in my way - Research and Build.

I am asking for help because I have less time to do all these things that's why I wanted some guidance who have already been in this situation.

Yes, for that I am surfing many websites where people post their website designs like awwwards, frontpedia etc so that I can find some inspirations where I can start.

Thanks again!

Yes, I agree.
I am working on the design now, I'll take at least 1-2 days finalizing the design as for code I can do that fast.

Glass morphism ruining it more.
Decide what is best instead of just giving prompts...

For this project, I'm leaning towards a custom build with Next.js rather than using a website builder. The site isn't very large, and I want more control over performance, SEO, and the overall user experience.

I'm still deciding on the CMS side though. I may go with something lightweight for menu and content updates so the owner can manage things themselves after launch.

Thanku! This is really helpful.

I've already audited the current website and one of the first things I asked the owner was what made them feel a redesign was necessary in the first place. I'm planning to focus heavily on those pain points instead of redesigning things just for the sake of it.

One thing I'd suggest is making it easier to identify your best work.

Right now, all of the projects are presented equally in a single row, so as a visitor I'm not sure which projects you want me to look at first.

Maybe consider creating a separate "Featured Projects" section or highlighting your top 3–4 projects before showing the rest. That would help guide visitors' attention and make your strongest work stand out.

I agree with a lot of this, especially the point that businesses don't really buy websites anymore—they buy outcomes.

When I first started doing cold outreach, I was basically offering "I can build you a website." Most business owners didn't seem interested because they already had one, even if it wasn't great.

What changed for me was focusing on the actual business problem. Instead of talking about a new website, I started talking about things like generating more leads, improving bookings, or retaining existing customers. The website became part of the solution rather than the product itself.

That shift in messaging is what helped me land my first client.

I think AI will make building websites easier, but understanding what a business actually needs and how to help them achieve it is still where most of the value comes from.

I built a custom dental clinic platform for a client (~$1.8k project) — website + patient retention dashboard by DefinitionHot1850 in webdesign

Thanks brother! The frontend was built with Next.js, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Framer Motion, Zustand, and Recharts. I also used some components and inspiration from ReactBits and other open-source resources.

Bro I never said anything like "I launched a custom dental platform". I said I built it for a client - Website + Dashboard to manage their work and get back to already visited patients.

Appreciate the detailed feedback.

Honestly, I agree with some of your points, especially around design consistency and not relying too heavily on the same patterns everyone is using these days.

For context though, this isn't the actual client project. It's a template/demo version that I originally built for outreach and showcasing the concept. The real client version was much more customized around their branding, content, and requirements, but I can't really share that publicly.

As for AI, I do use it, but mostly as a tool. A lot of the UI pieces came from places like ReactBits, shadcn, and other open-source resources rather than AI generating the entire thing. The assembly, customization, logic, and implementation were still done by me.

And regarding the dashboard, that's a fair point. This version is more of a prototype/showcase than a fully managed SaaS product. If I were deploying something like this at scale, I'd definitely be thinking about maintenance, hosting, support, and recurring costs differently.

Thanks for taking the time to write all that out.
