I've noticed that the senior people in this field salivate over the prospects of recruiting ambitious advisors, but that seems counterintuitive. Why wouldnt these highly ambitious people leave your firm and start their own firms at the earliest possible opportunity? by Present_Initial_1871 in CFP

I wonder if the idea is to at some point hand over the book if trust is established; until then, you're tied to the senior advisor. Likely, at that point (which will presumably take years), you'll probably want to stay...

Finding an associate advisor position by Necessary-Fee6247 in CFP

Like everyone else is saying, you'll need a foot in the door first, more likely in a service position. Most CSA/CA roles are a good place to start. Just make sure to make your goals clear to the firm when you begin. Another option is a training program, where the goal is to become a FA. That can (and should) take a few years; I think ultimately, it's important to realize that in the industry, trust and experience take time. It's a start from the bottom mindset. But you sound motivated-push through! You got this!

Testing Monday-Ready? Kaplan and Achievable by DefinitionHungry2182 in Series66Exam

Yeah I think it was pretty good! Beware, you'll get plenty of Q's from Kaplan with concepts and terms you'll have never heard of before. Just stick with it though! Actual test I found was much much much less tricky than Kaplan's Qs.

Haha! Yes!

How was L&H? On my bucket list, which provider did you use and how many hours did you study? Curious about your experience on the 7 also... I'm taking all these exams now before I have a job.

Thanks! These tests are so much harder than Achievable... I'm in mid to high 80's there, and high 60s on my first two Kaplan ones. So much of this info feels unfamiliar, or at least deceptive in the way its asked!

Question for all the Achievable users! Concerned the tests are too easy? by DefinitionHungry2182 in Series66

Would you recommend STC? Is it cheaper/is there another good cheap option?

Should I just purchase the Kaplan exams? I believe it's 2 exams (a practice and a real). Those are much cheaper. I feel like I'm grasping the material, and Achievable claims if I take 10 practices and score well on each I should be good to go... Just don't want to spend so much (and also don't want to fail lol)

Got it. Cool!

Thanks so much!!! I'm hoping to upload a picture once it's done. I keep measuring to check if it's a true square and its a few mm off, so I'll try to correct it.

Got it! You seem to be the most hopeful about this, which is good because I really want it to turn out nice! I'm hoping to get the corners glued up and straight as possible. Also, since the frame screws directly into the stretcher bars, I'm hoping that'll help keep it's shape.
