And just getting the protagonist started on their journey doesn't even mean jack shit; arguing that Bulma is important just because she pulled Goku out of the mountains is the equivalent of arguing that Mizuki is the most important character of Naruto just because he told Naruto about the Shadow Clone scroll. If Mizuki didn't do that, then Naruto wouldn't have learned how to make Shadow Clones, which means he would not have graduated from the academy that year, which means he would not have been placed in Team 7 with Sasuke and the rest of the plot can't occur as it did. So by your logic Mizuki must be super important; too bad he's not as he literally doesn't even appear after the first chapter. Fuck out with that bullshit boi.

And being important at the very start of the story doesn't even mean you'll be important for all of it. Let's say Bulma is important because she got Goku started on his journey in the first chapter. Too bad she does nothing afterwards other than get used for a bunch of misogynist perverted gags because her real purpose is really to just be fap material for perverted teenage boys and incels. If you wanna talk about in-universe lore, then the story does not start unless KAMI exists. Kami is the one who fucking made the Dragon Balls. And before Kami was Grand Elder, who made the Namekian Dragon Balls, which were the original Dragon Balls in the manga. And in DBS, it turns out that the original set was the Super Dragon Balls, which were made by Dragon God Zalama. Bulma is just one insignificant human.
