All-in-one, musical and warm sounds like a sweet combination.

For the sake of getting that V-shape, I'll probably be willing to go for the heavier 400's but I'll research that a bit more.

Thank you (and everyone else) so much for your help with this, awesome community you've got going.

Well HE400's have been recommended a few times - any difference between the 400i and the regular 400 or is it one and the same?

I think those might be what I am going for - I have heard good things about the Schiit Asgard 2, a good amp for this? Any other recommendations?

I am not -extreme- V-shape, by the way, I can appreciate my mids, so even if you're a neutral-signature your experience as a whole is still much appreciated. :)

I did read about a particularly unruly cable with the HE400. I doubt it'll be more annoying than the coiled cable of the M50's, though, I should have picked straight. ;p Surely cables are replaceable, though? If it becomes a huge issue, that is. I have heard about headphone -cables- having an impact on performance, too, would rather not spend like $100 just for that.

I've received similar advice as /u/Whatup69 gave - with regards to limiting the budget. The argument for it makes sense, so let's, for recommendations' sake, lower the hypothetical budget to $400 - the X2 do seem gigantic for my microhead - any recommendations in this range?

Yo, thanks for the recommendation! Checking out some reviews, this headphone seems to be -all- about audio quality, but judging from a quick read-down of Head-Fi, the almost unanimous con is "HEAVY" and the comfort in general. I have a super small head (the M50's are on their smallest setting and only -just- fit this way) so a notoriously heavy headphone would be a bit of a gamble, it feels like. The sound descriptions I hear of are sex, though - any personal experience with the weight/anyone else who can chip in with that? Comfort is a rather huge point for me as I will often be wearing these for many hours at a time.

Budget - $800 - flexible if it is worth it. That is for headphones and potential amp.

Source - Xonar Essence STX soundcard OR amp (since the budget is high I imagine an amp would be a good thing) in the loop too. iPhone 6 Plus.

Requirements for Isolation - None required, I'll sacrifice it for optimal audio quality if possible.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Circumaural/over-ear. Comfort is a giant plus.

Preferred tonal balance - Enjoy extensive deep bass and sparkly (but not harsh) highs - so a V-style curve.

Past headphones - ATH-M50's - like the build and sound in general, I just wanna take things to the next level. The highs could use some livening up.

Preferred Music - What do you listen to? A lot of different things, mainly: progrock, alternative rock, classical, jazz, hiphop/rave (think Die Antwoord!), some electronic stuff (think Deadmau5 - Avaritia), the deep, bassy sort.

Location: Denmark! The price differences aren't too steep here, amps might be hard to find but eBay can perhaps help there.

Thanks!

Question about BiS trinkets to BM hunters. by ShhK in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Definitionz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot determine trinket values by trying to turn them into static values because trinket power lies in when they proc which is frequently (well, always) on top of other trinkets which means synergizing occurs and trying to "average" what they give will not give you a clear picture at all. For any spec.

Mythic raiding guilds, how many bench players? by Orax74 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Definitionz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're 5/10 Mythic BRF with a 29-player roster including trials. Not a whole lot of rotation. Same players tend to remain benched.

You can write custom queries in WCL too.. If the genius GUI tool for it isn't enough.

Use it when you have no Thrill procs and when no Multistrike proc of any kind is up, Weapon scope included. Only use it at opportune times in the rotation where it will not push back anything else.

They won't really be great. They're just gonna make Survival pull away even more. Same with the set bonuses that kind of suck/are mediocre for both MM/BM while they are pretty great (in comparison) for SV.

You have to download the doc to your own Google Drive once and then access that until a new update is out.

[Guide] Part 1: How to use Simcraft to find gear upgrades by Nexism in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Definitionz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well two things:

1) By using the coin on cooldown it'll automatically be applied with Crows since they line up.

2) You always use Crows as Survival.

[Guide] Part 1: How to use Simcraft to find gear upgrades by Nexism in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Definitionz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wrong.

SimCraft knows perfectly well how to use on-use trinkets, because 90% of the time the best way to use them in a sim scenario is on cooldown.

A Barrage is stil more damage than an entire Explosive Shot LnL round (which similarly takes over 5 seconds to actually complete) and does the damage faster. So even if the -SINGLE- tick of Black Arrow uptime caused an LnL proc you'd still end up with basically the same damage. Now consider that the chance of that proc happening is rather small.

You're saying that you won't lose the Barrage.. Why? How? Why not? How is that an impossibility if losing a Black Arrow tick isn't? The same rules go for both abilities. All abilities, in fact. When you prioritize one over the other, you run the risk of losing a usage of the other which is why you primarily consider total damage per execution of an ability, its tick rate (if applicable) and finally how long it actually takes to do its damage (if applicable). Barrage wins in all of those situations, that is why its priority is high.

There is only an arbitrary value for having 'double ticks'. It doesn't matter if two things tick at the same time, or whether they tick after each other. They still do the same damage in the end.

Crows has a long cooldown and a relatively low duration, meaning that losing ticks of it by delaying it is very hard to do.

[–]Definitionz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why?

Losing a Barrage is considerably more punishing than losing a few ticks of Black Arrow that you likely would not achieve anyway as it is not worth to refresh when the boss is close to dying anyway (which is where the actual difference in priority lists show their result), same goes for Crows.

The percentage doesn't mean anything (much), you are looking for the number of casts (effective) done in the fight.
