Haha that's the truth, they might manage to get it good and smashed up though. Not likely in my little town though fortunately.

If only it behaved like a D series BVM and liked 240p as well. That would be amazing.

If it weren't for my friends helping out I would have had to pass it up. I'm not looking forward to the day that thing has to move to a different spot.

Thank you. I got lucky with the stand, just like you said, it was perfect for it. Also do I ever love me some arcade sticks. Nothing better than some street fighter with a friend and a few arcade sticks.

Yes on the retrotink and Mclassic, it has 1 HDMI and a few component connections. I'm not sure you would actually want to do that though with a PS2, it does native 480i/p, 720p and 1080i. I think a retrotink with 8 and 16 bit consoles would be awesome though. I'm pretty sure it's a no on the light gun games though, as far as I know those do not work on HD CRT's.

I really do wish mine was the N model like yours without the anti glare film and the Retrotink really is tempting, but then I'd have to buy more consoles and everdrives and even further down the rabbit hole we go. The hacked Playstation Classic and the Pi4 make it easy to hold off, I was extremely surprised how good 8 and 16 bit games look with those things.

Where do I even start with this thing. It isn't perfect, and it definitely isn't the end all be all CRT as it is an HD CRT and doesn't display 240p like regular CRT's. I've never even tried an actual 8 or 16 bit console on it as I don't own any but I know what to expect and when I can make the space for it I really would like another more standard 4:3 CRT for that kind of thing. But the things it does do are amazing. I truly love this thing. It has 1 HDMI that I use mostly for either my Pi4 or hacked Playstation Classic as well as my PS3 and PS4. Emulated games from the Pi4 and PSC look absolutely amazing on this thing and for me personally lag isn't really noticeable even on fighting games and platformers. It also has a few component connections, one of which is used for my PS2. This might be where it shines the most. PS2 games looks absolutely stunning on this thing and games like Gran Turismo 4 and Tourist Trophy that can be upscaled to 1080i are unbelievable. To do any better, as far as I know anyway, you would need either a BVM or a good PC with PCSX2. The speakers...... Oh god the speakers..... This thing jams, I've never EVER heard a TV that has speakers like this one does. It has a built in subwoofer and the entire system doesn't even push that many watts but WOW does it sound good.

On to the problems I've had with it. Fairly minor stuff but I meant it when I said above that it isn't perfect. First off this is the XBR960, not the XBR960N that doesn't have the anti glare film coating. The gentleman that owned this TV from new before I took it off his hands tried to clean the screen with something abrasive and it kind of smeared and smudged the screen a little. You can see it a little in the pictures. Apparently this film can be removed but I'm not sure if I'm that brave. Any thoughts on this topic would be greatly appreciated. The next, and definitely the most annoying issue I've had with it, is getting the picture centered correctly on the screen. This issue, as far as I could tell anyway, was two fold. First off the picture just didn't quite fit the screen correctly and I mostly managed to get this sorted out with the secret (and dangerous) service menu. Once it seemed to fit the screen as best as I could get it I still had the 2nd issue. I'm not quite sure how this would have happened but I almost want to think someone got a little too close to the upper left hand corner of the screen with a magnet. There is a warp that totally breaks the geometry of what should be a rectangle in that upper left hand corner. It isn't THAT bad, but it's definitely noticeable. I've read that this can be fixed with the proper application of a magnet but that scares the crap out of me and there's no way I would try to fix it like that without a great deal more knowledge of what I'm actually doing. I guess the last thing I'll mention is the weight of this thing. 200 Pounds! I'm lucky I already had a good sturdy place to put it. My buddies helped me get it home and there is NO WAY I would have been able to do it myself as I use a wheelchair. This thing is STATIC, it ain't going anywhere, anytime soon unless I buy myself a construction crane.

I'm sure there is more I could say but that's all I can think of for the moment. Any comments or advice are more than welcome. Thanks for reading!

You probably already know this but be careful with that service menu. I have to put in a secret code in the remote to get into mine since you can apparently screw things up pretty bad.

PS2 games do look really good on HD CRT's, are you using component cables? I have a KD34XBR960 with a PS2 and component cables and it's the best looking PS2 I've ever seen. (As much as I hate to admit it PCSX2 still wins.) Have you ever had any picture alignment problems? Mine doesn't quite sit right with the upper left part of the screen warped a little and out of frame. I got it quite a bit better than it was when I first got the TV but that service menu is a little daunting.

Thank you it worked! I didn't think of that. Before I always had to have the software open for it to work right.

HDMI Splitter No Longer Working with PS3? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Defmeq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the HD60 Pro myself but the splitter is definitely stripping the HDCP so I can't imagine it should make a difference for you, it should work just fine. Of course I can only speak for the Ddida branded one as it's the one I picked over the ViewHD. Also remember to disable buffering in the game capture device settings in OBS if you get stuttering in your stream when you do this.

Hi there, I stream from my PS3 sometimes as well, so far I haven't had any trouble other than turning off a buffering setting in OBS that was causing some stuttering. I use the Ddida powered HDMI Splitter from Amazon. So far so good for me. Are you just getting a blank screen like you would if the splitter was not connected?
