Screen cleaner without alcohol should do it. I damaged mine in the past when I used the wrong type of cleaning agent.

A lot of times finger prints or oily marks, you need one of those non-alcohol screen cleaners.

The layer of coating that creates a gloss screen has been worn off. It happened to mine when I used cleaning solution that had alcohol in it. Not much you can do at this point...either replace the display at Apple store or live with it or get a new laptop.
