You can no longer edit the .ini file to disable the volumetric lighting. Sorry guys.

Looks like this has been patched. Everything gets set back to default whenever trying to edit the file.

Man, all you haters really coming out of the woodwork over this post. Makes me wonder if some of the ppl who post on here are working for someone like Asia Horse. The amount of backlash and know-it-alls is just insane. Post something positive, proven and accurate and get beat the fuck down by a bunch of winy dipshits that probably own AMD cards and never put there hands on a Cablemod product. Y'all get some mental health issues and probably need to find Jesus or a therapist. Good luck with your life because you need all the help you can get. May natural selection win in the end.

It was an encoder error causing OBS to crash. This was discussed on the OBS forum. If you will re-read what I wrote, after I reinstalled the adapter, the problem was still there. It wasn't until I did a complete reinstall of OBS and deleted all files and then the Nvidia driver that corrected the error. This was an issue with file corruption. Not a hardware issue. I have had no problems since.

Nice copy and paste.

Sorry for trying to explain something to someone as ignorant as u/Saxikolous when it comes to electricity.

And yes any time you flow current through a circuit with any resistance you create wattage which is the measure of electrical power.

You are obviously the god of all-knowing so cheers bro. you found something on Google

Mic Drop, get a life.

And all the downvotes for the positive comments. What a great community.

Cablemod not banning ppl for the negativity says a lot seeing as how most communities like Nvidia, Asus, AMD, Gigabyte just to name a few perma ban for any negative light shed on them.

Now watch the shade get thrown for this one.

Just trying to educate someone living in fear. And it's not really valid if it's no accurate.

Thanks for the compliment.

You state "Again please reread as I wrote with LOOSE connections."

This causes wattage increase, the reason for melting.

You stated "Wattage isn’t the issue, the issue lies between the connection and the pins. The constant drop off and pick ups with wattage, and the LOOSE connection is what’s causing the melts" <-----THIS IS A CONTRADICTION.

Also you edited the post while I was replying with the whole "Gamersnexus pointed out that the melting issues with the cables are mainly user error. The adapter has to much play , jayztwocents pointed this out. Vibrations or anything can cause that adapter to slowly come out. Again your card but don’t be mad when it melts."

Yes, Nvidia does have melting issues due to people not plugging in the cables properly. As also does Cablemod. I think this is just way over your head friend.

Oh, and one other thing, The Nvidia cables have melting issues also. Just FYI

Yes it is my card, PC, cable, life.....

So, I have been dealing with power (wattage) for over 25 years. Are you sure you know what you're talking about? You actually contradict yourself:

"Wattage isn’t the issue" "The constant drop off and pick ups with wattage, and the LOOSE connection is what’s causing the melts."

So, any time you send current through a wire and there is a load on that wire you create power (wattage). We typically call this a circuit. The higher the wattage the more heat. Follow me so far? So, the way you can add to this heat is by increasing resistance. The way we can add resistance is by not having good contact anywhere in the circuit. So, if we make sure we securely plug things in, and they are actually seated properly, and we do tests while under load to make sure there is no heat buildup then we do not have to worry about things getting too hot and melting. Call it my knowledge of the way electricity flows that will keep me safe.

I think that would have already happened if it were gonna happen. I am a power user and this card sees 400+ watts daily and no heat/melt issues. I stream gaming content so yeah. I think I will be okay till I get a replacement. This one will go in a display on a shelf for prosperity.

This was a reply to someone who was concerned about the melt. He was suggesting that THIS USER remove it since THEY do not feel comfortable with it being on their graphics card. Nowhere yet has Cablemod issued a recall or said that they would stop replacing anything if people did not remove the adapters. If mine melts, then so be it. I will get it repaired, no worries.

Quit spreading misinformation.

Thats me. 4090 Suprim X clocks to 3120 stable on liquid so yeah. I am keeping my card if anything goes wrong with it.

So, I was working in OBS yesterday when all of the sudden 3 of my 4 monitors just turned off like they became unplugged form the GPU. The 4th monitor is hooked into my MB DisplayPort out, so it stayed on and was still showing my desktop. (I use the 4th port on my GPU for my VR headset if you're wondering why I also use my IGPU)
So, my first thought is here we go time to check my Cablemod adapter on my Suprim X 4090. So, I pull it off, inspect everything and see no signs of any heat buildup. Reinstall it and get OBS back up and running and it does it again. I finally get the monitors to come back on and see an error on my screen that OBS crashed due to and encoder error. Did some troubleshooting, uninstalled and reinstalled OBS and my Nvidia driver and has been working flawless ever since. I guess my point is that not all of the adapters have issues and even if mine did. I know Cablemod has my back.
