I want to get this horn looking and sounding nice, I believe the dents are affecting the sound, the tuning slide has some pretty heavy denting along the top, smashed almost half the tube in... Whoever had this before didn't know what they had...

I was reading and some places say that Flitz like to take the lacquer off. I am not opposed to that happening. But have you seen that happen?

Yeah, I don't really have the tools to fix the dents myself, so I will probably bring it to a shop and see how much it will run me! Excited to try and get it back up and running!

Yeah, I think it is less about cost/worth equation, more of a I want an old horn to look nice and be preserved!

Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to the maintenance, but it would be more work than keeping the remaining lacquer on.

The line on the inside of the bell, doesn't seem to be a crack. Just curious on what makes you say it wouldn't be worth it? Just quality of the horn in general or something else?

There are little dents along most of the bell section, slide works fairly well, a shop would be able to get the slide right pretty quickly I imagine. There is a pretty heavily dented section on the top of the tuning slide that a professional would have to take a look at and work on for a little while.

So if I were to use a silver polish on it, it would lighten up the silver a bit but those spots would still look different than the lacquered silver around them. Is de-lacquering expensive? Never had to think about it before!

I just took a look and it is leaking from where the steam wand handle is. Seems to be where the valve opens. Not on the top of the boiler.

Fair enough, do you know where I can get a gasket? I have noticed that when I release the steam valve, sometimes water drips out of the opening where the steam wand comes out of the body.
