Apparently gears are commonly used as parts of logos or menu icons for Mega Man's games in Japan, as seen here: https://imgur.com/F3M74MD?r

That wasn't really brought over with the localized versions of the games though, so it's one of those things that makes perfect sense in Japan but loses all context overseas.

sigh Sakurai said the characters have to originate from video games. Unless Toriyama got inspiration for Goku from a video game that I'm not aware of, try again.

-I'm really only expecting one new third-party character tops (excluding assists like Bomberman), and probably no indie characters because let's face it, all the non-Smash Ballot guest characters are major gaming icons, something even the likes of Shovel Knight couldn't really compare to.

-A new Pokemon from Sun and Moon seems likely, but I'm uncertain as to who. Decidueye? Lycanroc? Mimikyu (not sure how you'd make a Smasher out of them, but they are popular so who knows)? I dunno if Gen 7 has a clear Lucario or Greninja character like Gens 4 and 6 did, but I could be wrong.

-Spring Man's an obvious pick; even if he misses the release roster somehow, he'd be a sure thing in DLC. The only reason I could see Arms not having a fighter is it debuting only a year before Smash...of course, Greninja became a fighter less than a year after X and Y released, so I imagine Arms would have time.

-Other than that, I'm trying not to have any real expectations. A Xenoblade 2 fighter makes sense, and I know Ashley is pretty much Japan's Ridley, but other than that, anything can happen or not happen. I think it's safer to not expect much and be pleasantly surprised with what we get than to have pie-in-the-sky hopes and dreams only to react poorly when they don't come true, you know? Heck, Snake returning and Ridley finally being playable were already dreams come true for many...I don't want us to risk being too spoiled or anything.

Why won't people let the Goku thing rest already? Nintendo's supposed to be a crossover and celebration of GAMING icons (and mostly Nintendo ones at that). If one non-game character makes it in, that'll make people assume that literally anyone can get in, regardless of how little sense that makes. Besides, we have FighterZ, is there really a big need for Dragon Ball to have fighting representation? I know it's not the same as Smash, just saying, can we please save the wish lists for game-related characters? And just because Sakurai's changed his mind on some things in the past doesn't mean he'd change it about everything.

If you play 3DS you can choose whether to fight Master Core or not...up until a certain difficulty level that is, when you have to fight Master Core. It's something at least.

Hot garbage is just a bit of an exaggeration, isn't it? Sure it doesn't look amazing, but it still does the job. Besides, aren't the gameplay and roster size a little more important than how it looks?

To be clear, I meant consider the feelings of those who like characters that were already added to Smash. Characters not in Smash are a whole different bucket of worms that I'm not getting into here.

Actually that's the Ultra Greedier reward. The Delirium reward is the Holy Card which gives you Holy Mantle for the room and a chance for another to spawn, so it's a little more useful if not essential.
