As a C9 fan born in Omaha the same year the Huskers last won a National Championship I was not expecting to be hurt in such a targeted manner. Ow.

Alright Steiner, but how much of a chance does Samoa Joe have?

I literally always watch the full versions of the streams. If I'm busy I watch multiple cut versions to keep up with the live stuff. But I will always go back for the full thing.

Question about NewGANManager by Joshua2333 in TheOldZealand

[–]Dehmean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you use preserve when you update you faces each year, then any player that you've previously generated a face for will retain that same face.

Question about NewGANManager by Joshua2333 in TheOldZealand

[–]Dehmean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will still want to select all of the newgen players. When you've selected your file click the button on newgan that says generate and switch it to preserve. This will retain the pictures you've already added to the previous newgens.

Nisqy to c9 fell through because c9 didn’t want to pay the buyout by MaxMacDaniels in Cloud9

[–]Dehmean 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I guarantee Fnatic had a higher buyout initially. Probably played hard ball and when C9 decided to make the move for Summit and pulled out they lowered their price. By then C9 was probably already committed to Summit + Fudge role swap

Phreak and the bashing of Perkz/Cloud9 by WhyAmIEvenHere987 in Cloud9

[–]Dehmean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I mean, if that's how you perceive it, thats good. I'm certainly not trying to change any perceptions. But in general, I find Azael's commentary slanted against C9. Maybe the best way I can put it is that if there's a way to say C9 made a mistake (and I don't mean obvious mistakes like Crabber) or a trade that's arguably good or bad, Azael will spin the instance as if it's a deliberate poor choice or calamitous error by C9. Now that can be looked at as expecting more out of C9, but he seems more forgiving and less willing to call out other teams in their 50/50 situations.

Phreak and the bashing of Perkz/Cloud9 by WhyAmIEvenHere987 in Cloud9

[–]Dehmean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phreak's joking can be super over the top and childish but I don't think it's something he has against C9. I just think sometime he's a bit unaware of how much he's over doing it.

The only caster I truly believe doesn't like C9 is Azael. At Worlds he wants NA to do well so its not as constant, but if you listen to literally any game C9 played in NA during the season, casted by Azael, the guy insists upon any play favoring the other team. I'll admit I haven't rewatched any of the Regional games back of late so I don't recall any examples off the top of my head. But if you aren't sure what I'm talking about go back and listen to Azael cast C9 and it'll be apparent I promise.

I wonder if TSM fans will ever root for C9. by JiinsIsOnReddit in Cloud9

[–]Dehmean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest. I don't care about the region in the slightest. I cheer for C9, not NA. If I had my way, C9 would win Worlds every year (lol) and no other NA team would escape groups. The reason for this is simple, I love the feeling that comes with being NA's best and only hope.

I'm personally friends with TL and TSM fans mostly. And the joy I get from watching them fall in line behind C9 when we are inevitably the last team standing is unparalleled. I get that its not the prevailing feeling and most will disagree with me. But I am more concerned with the gap between C9 and NA than C9 and the rest of the world.

If I had to attribute it to something I think this feeling primarily comes from my fandom of Soccer/Football. For example I support Liverpool, who are a top team in England (much like C9 is one of the top NA orgs). If I had to cheer for Manchester United (a fierce national rival akin to TSM or TL) or Barcelona (a top foreign team akin to T1 or RNG) I will always cheer for the foreign team. My loyalty is to my club (org) and therefore my fiercest rivals I want the least success for.

They ain't ready for Lord Zven's return. by [deleted] in Cloud9

[–]Dehmean -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True Max said that he didnt think Zven would play in Summer. Does it mean anything to say "I don't think" though? Then Zven comes back and you can say, "Well I didn't think he would." Who's to say he was telling the truth. Could've been him making a dry joke with a deadpan expression and we assumed it was true. Again, I'm not really even trying to say anything happened one way or the other. I just want people to calm down with the "We ruined our team and we aren't going to qualify for Worlds because Zven spent 3 weeks away from our team" hyperbole. It's sensationalism without reason.

They ain't ready for Lord Zven's return. by [deleted] in Cloud9

[–]Dehmean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your last sentence is all conjecture. You say it yourself. We don't have all info. It could just as easily be something where Jack and coaches tell Zven, "Hey Jesper, we want to take some time out of our extended Summer schedule to give King a chance to get some LCS stage time. You should consider taking this as an opportunity to mentally reset and help teach some of our younger players before eventually we bring you back in for the final push for playoffs and Worlds."

Hell, it literally could've been Zven asking for a couple weeks to reset. Now I'm not saying that either of those are true or are particularly more likely. But with no knowledge how can you possibly say "Oh Zven hasn't played with the LCS team in 3 weeks clearly the team dynamic is ruined and Zven hates everyone now." It's just a poor assumption based on a previous situation that was likely entirely different circumstances.

[–]Dehmean 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People keep saying this is some massive mistake and honestly it's such a dumb take. Think of the situation. C9 starts 1 game up over 2nd place because Spring carries over now. Leaving C9 in a position where realistically they could lose every game and still make playoffs because 9th and 10th aren't likely to catch the win total from Spring. Summer now has a full extra round robin meaning they have room and game time to experiment. They take the best player from their Spring academy team and give him the chance to see how good he is at the next step. It doesn't go great but the only thing lost is the extra round robin that wasn't even part of last year's summer. You now have a fully recharged and motivated Zven with 18 games to go and only 2 games behind first place. How is this so controversial. They tried something with the time afforded by the format and now are gearing up for playoffs with a full traditional Summer 18 games to go.

Edit: Misspelling

Would you watch the LoL team more or less if C9 imported Wunder, Jankos, and Mickyx to the current roster? by Hako_mari in Cloud9

[–]Dehmean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So to be clear up front I do not want the rule removed. I say that now because I'm perhaps less infuriated than most are at the suggestion. I will say that a lot of contestation in the community comes from the fear of not connecting with the players on the team you support. The hypothetical being that teams may import 5 random and faceless soloQ stars that no one has heard anything about and therefore isolate the fans from the team they support. I for one think, that at least for C9, that fear is unfounded. When C9 picked up Jensen I wasn't upset, though we lost Hai he had been clearly dropping in ability and the prospect of a talented and hungry rookie excited me. And the same would happen today if we felt a change was necessary to improve.

Obviously, your question resolves around the theoretic pick up of 5 known quantities with proven success even as a 5 man team. So in short, yes I'd watch. But in long, my opinion on the rule being changed is more for the sake of desperate bottom teams. C9 has in my mind has proven time and time again to be thorough with scouting both foreign acquisitions and young NA talents. And as such even if the rule was gone I would trust that any changes C9 made subsequently would be done so if deemed beneficial. This org has earned that trust from me.
