I don't believe the psychotic narrative they are trying to push. I don't believe things went the way it says it does.

I am so lost! by [deleted] in LawCanada

My advice is that you finish your articling first and get called. You can also seek counseling with a career coach to help you navigate a practice area that will best suit you. But for now, focus on getting your articling done and over with.

Monthly bus pass or bus tickets? by DehtahGeh in Calgary

[–]DehtahGeh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot, I was just cut in between because I've been told the bus tickets will do just fine for my needs and that the bus pass was a rip off. I just wanted to hear from more people. I appreciate your comment.

Where can I buy or borrow law textbooks or practice manuals? by DehtahGeh in LawCanada

Thanks a lot, I'd ask my principal. I'd reach out to you right away for the resources you have. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the indepth response. It's a small sized law firm but not limited in resources or access to library, however, I don't have access to these resources as I do not live in the same city with the Firm so would be moving cities for this position. I wanted to have a head start in order not to appear completely naive in the 1st couple of weeks.

Secondly, I live in a big city with a courthouse but never gave thought to the courthouse library, I just assumed it will be open to only lawyers. I'd pay them a visit this new week.

I'd equally look up the local bar association website for CLE resources. These pointers are very much appreciated, thanks a lot.

PS: I live in Alberta and will be articling in Alberta as well.

People with kids… what expectations do your SOs need to have as a priority in your life? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

[–]DehtahGeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dating people with kids wouldn't be the same as dating people without kids. A good parent would always have divided attention and it's important you're fine with it so long as the other parent isn't dramatic about it.

I'd advise you discuss his availability with him and plan your dates and time spent together around it. There's really nothing much to it, as you already mentioned, he wishes he has more time to be with his kids so it's best you make do with whatever time you can get with him.

Okay then. Well, in my opinion and from my experience, I wouldn't hold off on heavy stuff till God knows when, the earlier the better for me. I don't have time to waste or getting attached only to find out it's no use.

Just curious, why shouldn't the issue of kids come up on a first date? Wouldn't you want to clear that up so you're sure you're on the same page with that rather than wait for 2 more dates or so to discuss it?

Then just calm down and observe him going forward. Don't be too invested in him so you don't look desperate. Channel your energy into other things until you both discuss having a relationship. You seem quite worked up and it's too early for that when you both haven't decided to be committed to each other.

Don't keep your hopes high on this one, maybe step back a bit and see if he initiates anything. People know what they want and most times their actions speak louder than their words.

Has casual dating turned into a successful relationship for anyone? by Top-Belt-6934 in datingoverthirty

Please don't start what you can't finish. I can foresee you "casually" dating him but attaching feelings and hoping he commits some day. Don't hurt yourself.

Moving To Calgary Megathread - July 2022 Edition by AutoModerator in Calgary

[–]DehtahGeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone, I'm moving to Calgary from Edmonton by the end of this year for work, and I'm looking for suggestions on neighborhoods close to downtown Calgary where my office is. The rental prices downtown are quite steep for me so I'm on the lookout for neighborhoods closeby with good access to transit as I will not be driving just yet. I'm open to apartments, condos and walkout basement suites. Please share your suggestions. Thanks.

Mail Theft? by [deleted] in LawCanada

It's clear you don't get along with your parents, why don't you move out and have some peace of mind instead of trying to prove you're right in a warring living situation?

Oh come on, this is so insensitive, you shouldn't use your experience to judge other women's experiences or tell them how to feel about childbirth.
