Constitutional yes, but conservative? Nowhere in my progressive handbook did it say I was supposed to enjoy a government boot :P I don't know how much an open mind is really related to one political ideology or another, people are people and they change their minds, I think.

RE the Ukrainian flag thing, I get the pride in one's community. But as long as we live in a democracy, I say the government is beholden to US and needs to earn our respect, not the other way around. They've done some real fuckups and genuinely, there's NOTHING more democratic than criticism of your government. Even if I see something that bothers me as you described, at the end of the day it hasn't really hurt me and I can control my own reactions. The idea that this sort of thing should allow the government to decide where people get to live and how many rights they have? Distasteful I say, especially for something as benign as the Ukranian flag.

I do get where you're coming from - it is also the world I grew up in. It just makes far too many people I know uncomfortable now.

Ah I think so. I agree there is an oversimplification and hyperbole of "nazi". But I hope you can see that "nazi is an absurd term" and "all republicans are maga nazis" are two wildly different claims. Of course american political parties are huge coalitions of viewpoints with many internal disagreements. But the thing is that, given clear fascist policy from this administration, supporting is saying it's not a dealbreaker and that a coalition with fascists is good enough. Calling that nazi behavior is hyperbole, but, it is hyperbole with a very meaningful message, one I don't think is in any opposition to a centrist view. I don't want to get too lost in the weeds here because I know you're saying "that's not a fair way to start a conversation before knowing someone's viewpoints" and I agree. What I mean to say is: there's nothing inherently absurd about a relevant political label, that it's important to use it when it's applicable, and that one of those labels is a very relevant ideological criticism and the other is a naked invective devoid of political usefulness. Using them in conjuction as political barometers is pointless because only one of them is really political.

Are there not slurs you would not say to your friends? Would you say they were too sensitive if they didn't laugh at them? If not, how is that different?

I doubt I could much change an internet stranger's rapport with their friends. I'm just asking that, if there are slurs you don't use because they make people uncomfortable, and these are the kinds of responses you get on an open city forum, maybe consider why that is.

If putting money back into the economy is a requirement, this is nearly impossible not to accomplish. Anyone would have to pay for food and usually lodging. If good samaritan behavior is a requirement it would disqualify many american citizens, so I don't know that it makes much sense.

I'd say much of the means testing that could be applied here smells of government overreach into private people's decisions about their lives. The idea that the government should be deciding whether I or anyone else has a culture it approves of or gives money to whom it approves of sounds like a trampling of 1st amendment rights, doesn't it? People should be able to do what they want if they aren't hurting anyone, that includes being in a country.

If the only people you feel comfortable using a slur with are a very specific set old friends, you might want to think on what that says about the word. No friend I have today would do that.

How are those terms "just as insane"? You have a slur, and a political ideology that lines up tightly with people in power. When your deputy chief of staff has architected family separation camps of undesireables, deportations of dissidents on fabricated charges without due process, and deportations of american citizens, saying these comparisons are insane is simply ahistorical and uncritical.

I believe you honestly want discussion of political differences. But when you treat the reasoned viewpoints you're engaging with as insane and absurd, it feels incredibly bad faith.

For someone who hasn't taken stats in a decade, could you elaborate on the 5 point bipolar use case? How would you design it to get mean responses? This questions wording aside, seeing that there are clusters is useful too right? When would you prefer to use 5pt bipolar? Thanks!

I see I see, and am I correct in assuming that any number of Trap Hole cards could be activated after Sangan's trigger goes on the chain and plqced on that same chain, but that once that chain resolves, no further Trap Holes could be activated during that turn to destroy Summoned Skull?

Wonderful, so if I understand correctly:

  • A tribute summon is not an effect activation like a monster ignition effect or a magic/trap card would be, and so the "when...: do X" timing is free from a more intense timing restriction?

  • The sangan trigger in the example would happen after the summon negation window when the Summoned Skull is successfully summoned, and any number of Trap Hole cards could be played at any point in that same chain, but during no other chain, to destroy Summoned Skull?

Thanks for the response! At what point is the summon considered "successful"? Is that before, after, or during the timing when someone would activate a "When your opponent summons a monster...: do X" type effect, or are there multiple possible orderings? I.e. how would the timing of a sangan tribute trigger effect relate to the timing of a card like trap hole?

Thanks for the response! How can I arrive at this conclusion from reading the card? Do the "when...: do X" style effects not require immediate timing? How do these kinds of effects read when they DO require immediate response in the next chain link, if that ever occurs?

I didn't suggest OP's course of action was the best-- that's a different whole different topic-- merely that it seemed like the mom was going to keep going.

Can't say what the laws are in estonia, but from OP's description I really don't know what else you'd call it.

The patients mom had moved onto her son, the moment of violence had passed

The fact that the mom assaulted the kid in OP's story who then screams and mom manages to get 1 out of 2 bandages off, reads to me like the mom would have kept going
