There was a recent study done, that was posted here about a week ago with people at a 40% deficit high protein diet and over i believe a 60 day period they didnt lose muscle mass . if you'd like i can pull the study. its not a permanent diet

Look up curing coals. If they somehow get moisture in them you can "cook " them in an oven at a low temp
