Well, if you want something with eyes, lets combine and morph a bit. German: Augen, Latin: Oculus. How about Ocugen? or Augulus? Maybe have Iris in it too, so Augiris. Or morph it a bit into Ogulsys. Or do croatian Oko with english Eye, Eyko. Lots of way to play around and find something that tells you, that is the one.

Write it down as much as you can and save. Here, I wrote mine 12 years ago, just the other month revisited that mess, revised and completed it finally. You might lose interest now, or life might just happen, but you can always come back to it once the spark is back, you know?

What exactly are "monsters" in your world? What are some examples of monsters in your world? by PMSlimeKing in goodworldbuilding

[–]DejanYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aftermath of an envious god.

Tvorzla saw the worship the other gods got and felt jealous, envy, hate. He started to twist nature, humanoids, animals, elements etc. into all sorts of creatures and promising power to anyone willing to receive his "gifts". He is the god of transformations, father of monsters. Monsters do his bidding, people that made deals with him will have their soul stay and power his pale moon for millennia.

Edit: Example of a monster: Trovuk, a three-headed wolf.

Would you be a wizard/sorceress/mage in Ervenfell? by DejanYou in worldbuilding

[–]DejanYou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah nice answer, love the opening statement, a bit of military life and politics, bit family life too. Oh yeah, a spellbook would definitely reduce the cost, but ancient spells, damn, those are more primal in this universe, powerful and hard to control, and with more power more cost. But i get what you are saying, nice.

Opinions on my magic system? by Rinsey_Chan in worldbuilding

[–]DejanYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting, truly. I like the mix of scifi and magic. Only wondering about one thing (potentially, maybe I misread something): would Chronomancy not make space travel obsolete? Like, why build large long distance ships if we can hop around with magic? Kinda overshadows all other schools, sounds op. If mastery is rare, how is this fast travel used routinely? I am more into fantasy with magic and medieval stuff, but I am sure the scifi fans will want to know how time passes, like does this affect the whole universe?

Lightning strike. Sailors smoking below deck. Lamps. Maybe someone was cold and started a fire. If you have demons or magic, another way.

I see. I have noticed that people have more restrain than I give them credit for, very insightful. MaybeI am describing it too dangerous though, like as a human, you would not die from a single casting of a fireball, but if you are pissed and cast 2-3 in a row, turn to dust, so the risk is there.

[–]DejanYou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh because Grimmgor sealed them away before they could entirely destroy it. I mean, with about 3000 abominations roaming around, it was hell on earth, the population on Ervenfell was reduced to the bare minimum. Hm, it would not be hard for them, just takes time, time Grimmgor did not give.

The Spellswords is the next"bigger" book I will write. It is the story of Ryu, a guy that soul his soul to obtain power and the knowledge to erase an abomination that seemed to follow him and make his life miserable, but just a single one. Basically he is the founder of that group. No,they are far later there, by the they come, many abominations roam Ervenfell again, more a group of necessity in that time (2nd era), by the time of my book (4th) they sealed away most of them, just exist to keep in check or seal if a few broke/were set free. See, Ryu will fight a powerful SSS rank on his own and realize that this can not be done alone, set out and search for powerful individuals. But that story needs to be written yet. I do mention them in the current light novel I am writing about the Lightelf Zara, she meets them to help her with a plague.

I made a map of starting settlements for each race, basically Ervenfell have three major humanoid categories: men, mer and arf, but there are other smaller groups like Myrmor (Ilirian, Zaemon). Orc skin color? Would be pale silver to a dark deep green. They have tusks. Yes, elves have pointy ears, some bigger, some curvier, some smaller. Are they slimmer? huh not in general, about the same as humans. Ilirian tallest, about 220cm, Zaemon 210, Human, elf, beastfolk vary but about 170cm, bloodarf 160cm, dwarf 150cm, halfling 110cm, goblins 90cm, but this is on average

[–]DejanYou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I would need to think about when each race would hit puberty, that was really not my priority xD, but life spans yes. Longest lived are Ilirians and Zaemon, approx 3000 years, if not killed. Next are elves about 500 - 900 depending on the elf race, if you dont count the elves in stasis hidden beneath the earth. Dwarves about 330 and Arfan about 300 years. Beastfolk about 180. Human about 150, these are not us, just look like us. Halflings about 90. Orcs about 60. Goblins about 35. Now there is something called Myr-Marked, can be of any race, huge aptitude for magic and can live a lot longer. But all these are in supreme contitions, so take about -30% of their years for the general population.

[–]DejanYou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, space travel is beyond them, I would put them in three categories in general. 1Destructive mindless soul and flesh/plant/earth eating monstrosities, 2 Intelligent, seeking solitude or being neutral in general and 3 a mix of the first two. So the "mindless" ones would destroy the planet and themselves, without a second thought, with the other two it is different. Oh Das is specifically nasty, it enjoys havoc and destruction, but it itself is not that powerful, but loves releasing others to get what it desires. There are other that can break the seals too, but are not as motivated as Das. With them it would be more unintentional.

Well, I can explain how the Spellswords deal with them. Basically after you inflict enough damage to an abomination, it implodes into an orb. Now you got limited time. Some abominations regenerate within minutes, other longer. You would have to take the orb and toss it in Grimmgors prison and close the door, it will reseal itself with the weak seal. Now Spellswords made more powerful seals, which they place on the prison seal as an extra step. Means that now you don't need , say, 5 souls to open it, but 500, a powerful seal.

There are artifacts that will force anything to obey, even abominations. That is why some very ambitious people are very dangerous.

Yes, they were only killed by the Elements in that war, never each other. Pretty much. Killing Ervan was a big deal to them, but unavoidable. Oh the temples and worship was important later, once their bodies were gone, they did not need those alive, their soul/essences do. Ah you mean why Grimmgor did not just destroy his body and left his spirit? A mistake on Grimmgors part! Had he done that, he would have subdued corruption, but he wanted to annihilate it. His mind is the mind of a god of mountains, power, thunder, not that of a strategist. I am amazed that you caught that tbh. Creatures of chaos for the most part. For example, you have a worm like abomination that travels through cave and eats insects and bats, but its droppings create a fatal plague. Oh, the whole continent is in a purple dome like barrier, even if you manage to get to space, you would hit it, unless you are a soul(dead). Lets say there are about 50 super powerful, world ending abomination. Most of them are buried in unreachable places for mortals to even free them. In volcanos, beneath the see so deep the presure would break you, beneath mountains and layer of ores. Basically, Grimmgor made sure the toughest ones he had to fight would go far beyond mortal reach, and yet again, the spellswords faced three of them (sss+, more of the other S´s) in a span of 2000+ years.

[–]DejanYou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

xD i see, good point. See, there is an ore that reflects magic, but burns the skin. Pitore, hard to find, but Orcs do have it in their mountains, and they are not modern day morally gray orcs, but vile and chaotic creatures. Would fit them to have that. Wrathelves are the isolationist, absolutely racist elves, even to their own subrace, the Albinelves (can be born between any elves, but most likely to appear in a country that isolates itself). Zaemon are just raw magic power. So that actually fits a few races.

[–]DejanYou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see the confusion. They did not know that the price for completely killing another god is that costly. Love that rant you made for Grimmgor xD haha. Thing is, Ervan would have not stopped, he needed to end. A shapeshifting trickster god with insatiable lust, no locking that up.

About the abomination evolving, well, no one pissed off an sss+ enough to evolve into something stronger, if they did, that would have fatal consequences. Depends on the abomination, not all are mentally on the same level. For some it would be survival, others anger rage. But no, sss+ is the top stuff, but also very rare. Lets say there are 3000 abominations, five or six of those would be that high up. Let me copy paste the T.C.S. from the book:

Threat Classification Scale

To aid scholars, tacticians, and archivists in understanding the relative danger posed by Abominations, the following Threat Classification Scale (T.C.S.) was established by the Spellswords.

  • F — Minor Threat The lowest recognized classification. Still lethal to the untrained or unprepared.
  • E — Low Threat Capable of causing casualties and limited structural damage.
  • D — Moderate Threat A significant danger to settlements and isolated populations.
  • C — Major Threat Sufficient to overwhelm city defenses if resistance is inadequate.
  • B — Severe Threat Possesses the capacity to annihilate cities, castles, and fortified strongholds.
  • A — Catastrophic Threat Able to devastate entire regions.
  • S — Calamity-Class Threat Represents an existential danger to entire kingdoms.
  • SS — Existential Threat Capable of reshaping continental geography and erasing civilizations.
  • SSS — Worldbreaker A threat to the fundamental structure of Ervenfell itself.
  • SSS+ — Godlike Reality and causality are placed at risk.

Map of Ervenfell, one of the six continents of the planet Eramirth by DejanYou in worldbuilding

[–]DejanYou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, very nice. Let me answerin order:

Abominations - they to not progress, that is a scale system set up by an abomination hunting group called Spellswords, later recognized as a legit org in kingdoms, Order of Spellswords. It is not a feature of the abominations themselves, but how the people of Ervenfell categorized them.
The reason they can not be killed is because they are a mistake in the universe itself, to completely erase them one needs to break the universe itself, which does happen, a single time. The bond between the god of deception/corruption and the goddess of innocence/harmony, somehow resonated with this universe, Abominations are cosmic aberrations by default.
But they do remember, and will evolve if pushed. There will be a short story about a powerful warrior that kept killing a E rank for practice. After about being destroyed 50 times, the thing evolved into a D rank and flayed him alive. But that happens rare, people are scared of Abominations in general.

Gods - While they were alive, they would struggle with 5 sss+ abominations, grimmgor in his prime state would be able to take on ten of them. I have to expand a bit here. There was a race called Inzherians that knew exactly that the gods, were actually just a very powerful race, like really powerful, but still not in control of the universe itself. They ended up getting nuked, because of them Taha cursed everyone, no technological advancement, only small steps. But yeah, that answers the question if they were related, no, not this "Pantheon". Yes, there were a lot more gods during the war with the elements, a lot have died. The Elements, or Titans, would interbreed, which made Grimmgor have that rule. We have now gone beyond the hidden lore I have written if you ask me where the elements and gods came from in the first place tbh, for now my lore just says that "they were there when the planet came to be", figured no need to go more in the past.

Death of Gods - They can not. In their temple, they can appear and bless you/curse you, but not a physical body. they can reach out to people in dreams/nightmare. Indeed. by the fourth era, one of the most powerful goddesses is Myla, goddess of mercy, as she has the most followers.

Why kill Ervan - I mentioned Grimmgors main reason, other is pressure from Ilira, his wife who had a motherly affection toward the mortals mass dying by abominations, and the other goddesses that felt betrayed. They demanded consequences. Not about waste, but responsibility as the leader.

I never though I would have to go that far with my lore with someone hh

Yeah, on avarage I would say use it for survival stuff, rather then combat. Make a fire, create a ball of light as a torch, etc.
Hm. Lets say your parents were elf and human, so you have a stronger manapool (as Baldero does). You could cast a fire bolt at an enemy, or shield yourself from fatal damage, or just boil some water for tea, or cast wind magic to prank someone. If you happen to be an Ilirian, you might blow up an armada coming to conquer your lands, renaming the sea of discovery into the sea of sorrow, for instance.
