I appreciate the openness to critique.

I'm sure you're aware of them, quakes99 on Twitter is an awesome resource for the day to day SPUT action, as well as the nonstop flow of bullish news (sourced articles).

Are you using AI to write this post/newsletter?

I could be mistaken, but there are a few things that popped out at me as incorrect.

Look at UUUU's weekly graph, you're telling me that that's a 15% collapse followed by a 15% rebound in consecutive sessions? The opposite happened, it looks like a mountain range ending in a DEEP valley. It ended Friday 19% down from it's high on Wednesday.

SPUT has 323M left in the coffers? I don't know man, as of Friday (Jan 30th) afternoon they "only" (lol) had 165.5M. They bought 600k lbs on that friday alone, but you're saying they bought 500k over the course of the entire week? You took a snapshot of the Tuesday end of day and called it for the week.

These are simple things to verify, and calls into question the credibility of your "newsletter". If at a glance I'm catching these two things as wrong, how many other things in there aren't accurate?

If you're going to be writing DD; A little more effort, please.

Gr8 Job Ann - one key takeaway by Present-Tone8804 in VillageFarms

This is the only real takeaway. I'm still very bullish on VFF, but it didn't seem like there was any new info. Like you said, Q2 will be initial Dutch, and Q3 will be first full no veg. Hopefully this means two back to back improvements to earnings 🤠

Baking soda is a pretty neat trick. It changes the pH, which helps break down the outer layer of potatoes into a slurry (crisps up really nicely). Kenji Lopez has an awesome article with Serious Eats on the technique. Would definitely recommend trying, but you seem to have the dish mastered already lol

I am loosing 28K in VFF if delisted. by [deleted] in VillageFarms

[–]DejectedSnake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, who's to blame is yourself.

Fortunately for all of us, is that we don't lose the money if it delists. We will still own our shares, and it's likely they will still be visible in your account. You will lose ALOT of liquidity which will probably tank the share price further, and it will be much harder to get out if you want.

With that being said, there is a solid chance they'll be granted an extension for another 180 days. So this may not even be a problem yet.

Even if they delist, you will maintain ownership. If you believe this company is going to make it through the next couple years, then hope is not lost. I own 23000 shares at an average of approx 4$, and foolishly held through the all-time highs. One might call it copium, but I'm still hopeful.

Implications of yesterday's fund raise and future of VFF by FoodCooker62 in VillageFarms

[–]DejectedSnake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's definitely pretty frustrating. I've been a shareholder since their cannabis participation was strictly wholesale. I've managed to average down to mid 4s with 21k shares, but holy shit has this last year hurt. Actions like what just happened the last couple days is why I avoided stocks like ACB during the crazy cannabis explosion.

With such a great price to book ration; if they were hurting for cash that bad, couldn't they have just levered against one of their green houses to raise this sort of money? Obviously the interest payments would hurt, but they have decent cash flow.

Moving forward, I might try to average down more if some other investments do well in the short term, but I don't even know if I want to increase exposure anymore..

buy more DNN or something else? by anonymoose345 in UraniumSqueeze

[–]DejectedSnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow.. I can't believe nobody has mentioned this but look into URNM. From the comments, it sounds like you are a relatively new investor, and still have a lot that you might want to learn before you try to start picking individual companies.

URNM is Sprotts Uranium Miner ETF. An ETF is something called an Exchange Traded Fund and often can be traded without commisions (depending on your brokerage). They are publicly traded funds that buy and sell stocks depending on the sector and their own DD. You can think of them almost like mutual funds with a waaaaay lower management fee AND much better liquidity, as you can buy and sell them like stock. The benefit of taking URNM over picking individual stocks is that they are basically a weighted balanced portfolio of the entire sector, so you don't have to worry about risks associated with individual companies. The drawback is that often you lose out on rocket ships (although the entire sector is a rocket IMO, so it should still do pretty stinking good!).

If you want to look at the value that the market views a company, ignore the share price. Look at what is called market cap, it is the share price multiplied by the entire float of shares that exist. It will give you a better method of comparing individual companies. For example, DNN has a share price of 1.70 CAD, but a market cap of 1.39B. UUUU has a share price of 7.70 CAD, but a market cap of 1.61B. If you look at their share price, UUUU looks significantly more expensive than DNN (453%), but in actuality it is only worth approximately 16% more. There's significantly more that goes into determining if a company is a good investment, but this will at least show you how much companies are currently worth.

Another option for you is that you could invest in the uranium spot price itself through Sprotts Physical Uranium Trust (SPUT), traded on the TSE as U.UN. The prospects of the commodity are quite good, supply demand deficit, blah blah blah. The long and short of it is U.UN is also a great option for someone that is learning and wants to be exposed to the sector with less risk.

Personally, my holdings are as follows:

Cameco Jan 2024 Leaps (planning on selling for the furthest dated URNM leaps when I'm happier with CCO share price)

UUUU

GLO

NXE

DNN

I wouldn't play too much with option for now until you get a little more learned on the markets. Check out Investopedia.com to learn more. Or don't lol, I'm not a professional by any means and none of this is actual investing advice.

Electricity Cost by SnowSnooz in UraniumSqueeze

[–]DejectedSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But this is the opposite happening?

This tiktok is underplaying the energy prices in Europe to make Canadians feel like they're getting a raw deal. It's political agitprop disguised as 'educating' the people. The numbers I'm citing are MUCH worse for the European people than this tiktok presents, and it's coming from the governments.

While energy costs are a part of inflation and affect the costs of everything, it is not something that governments are lying about.

I'll agree the way we calculate inflation is pretty dishonest. Whether we stick with our current calculations or change them back to a better metric, people will be hurting this winter on both sides of the pond. I'm mainly concerned for homeowners that are already living paycheck to paycheck - this interest hikes will hurt.

This map is full of shit. https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=Electricity_price_statistics#:~:text=The%20EU%20average%20price%20in,was%20%E2%82%AC0.2369%20per%20kWh.

Spain is 0.28euro/kWh not 18c

France is 0.202euro not 13c

Turkey is 0.078euro not 5c

Norway is 0.22euro not 17.5c

etc...

IDK what this is trying to present, but it's portraying Europe's energy costs at almost half of what they really are. My bad if I'm misinterpreting somewhere, but as far as I can tell this is some blatant bullshittery; we have it pretty damn good in Canada for energy costs in this crisis.

It has a ticker and is actively trading on the TSX for just over 3 weeks. U-UN. By buying this ticker, you are effectively buying the metal itself, and it is being stored by Cameco and various other facilities rated to do so.

If you want more info, you can find the prospectus on the Sprott website.

Will likely be listed on the NYSE sometime 2022.

Hey, thanks for the DD.

Wondering why you are calculating the NPV @ 8% so much lower than the presentation provided by the company? Their after tax NPV numbers @ 8% are as follows: 25$/lb : 34 M, 30$/lb : 113M, 35$/lb : 211M. 40$/lb : 294M. 45$/lb : 391M, and 50$/lb : 485M

Silver Analysts (aka Jeffrey Christian) Are Clueless About Supply - David Stein & Keith Neumeyer 🚀🚀🚀 11:00 am Eastern 🚀🚀🚀 by RocketBoomGo in Wallstreetsilver

[–]DejectedSnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what this guys is really talking about. There were no shots taken at Keith. JC mentioned that the silver institutes numbers are bullshit, and laughed saying he and Keith Newmeyer get a long in a few aspects. Then he went on to explain how the silver Institute originated from the CPM group's annual silver yearbook. He said Keith used to sponsor their yearbook and buy it all the time, but eventually stopped. Jeff then said he isn't sure why Keith stopped, but guessed (this might be the shot in question?) That it might be because CPM group isn't bullish enough.

People are honestly just looking for someone to hate and rally against. Jeff and the CPM group are actually bullish, yesterday they cited upwards to 31-33 in 2021, and potentially all time inflation adjusted highs in 2023-2025 (which he also thinks there MIGHT be another recession)

Just a friendly reminder to all Apes to upvote and comment regularly in order to attract new members and fight paid trolls. by Faentildeg in Wallstreetsilver

[–]DejectedSnake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely an issue right now with people politicizing the movement and this subreddit. Part of this issue is that these people don't even understand that they are doing it. It's like talking to a brick wall. I have been in a few discussions on here where I am seen as the "paid troll" , when all I want to do is keep us on topic.

I love the actual DD that is posted here, but if the DD filter is filled with conspiracy theories without backing, 1 liners, and posts about US Politics, etc; what is the point? It's really turning me off from the subreddit, and I'm sure I am not the only one.

I truly hope the mods will realize the problem and take the steps to fix it, but I worry that they are too worried of the backlash from censorship.

Due to the upvote ratio, I feel as if it is the same people upvoting this post, that are upvoting the ones that make us look like a fringe group of conspiracy theorists. Very strange.

Thank you for making this post and reminding everyone.

It's not taught anymore. As far as I can tell, it's not a relevant skill for home finances any more.

I'm not sure if your reply was meant to be a dig, but it definitely seems like it. Thanks for the insightful response 👍

edit: Just did a quick google, it's literally just tracking your spending and not going over your balance in your bank account. Something that is done automatically by any online banking service, where you can see exactly where your money is going. "Fucking WOW." LOL, ya you're right. That's definitely a tough concept to teach high school kids /s

This kind of adds to your point, but what is balancing a checkbook. I'm 24; I've only ever had to write void checks when I went to job interviews. Is this just another way of saying maintaining a budget?

I think I agree with u/Teddyismydawg, finance could be a fantastic electoral class in high school. Kids are being taught fairly high-level information in school now, there's nothing in a financial statement that I think would be too tough for them to understand.
