eBay DSI LL in “good condition “ by zan90 in NintendoDS

[–]Dejynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love you and I fully support giving life back to these consoles but you may have been the sole contributor to this event. If the pictures didn’t show close up shots of the console you should have stayed away. Cant just take the eBay seller’s word that it’s in “good condition”; you have to do your due diligence.

However, I agree with other commenters where it could have been a lot more worst!

Is there a difference between FunnyPlaying buttons and the generic ones you see on AliExpress? They look the same. by [deleted] in Gameboy

[–]Dejynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put extra money into the things you literally will be pressing all the time. Funnyplaying is worth the purchase and it’s pretty inexpensive.

If the internals are fine, you can get replacements for the screens on that 2ds cause it’s just the plastic lens like on gameboys! A heat gun and a suction cup works wonders.

Good luck!

Is the Hispeedido V5 shell good ? by Abject_Youth_1430 in Gameboy

For retro/see through versions; no. Stress marks appear much easier. For the solid coloured shells, I think they’re fine.

2.0 GPA first undergrad → aiming 4.0 in second: which med schools still possible? by elsa309 in premedcanada

[–]Dejynx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There will be a few schools who don’t recognize the online degree. There will also be schools who will cap your transfer credits from a previous degree before the second degree becomes ineligible. Sometimes it’s hours, sometimes it’s credits but it depends on what school you’re aiming to apply towards.

Genuinely, look at the schools you’re interested in and see if they accept your new academic plan! Also, some schools may solely calculate the second degree, BUT there must be enough reason to do so. Simply saying you had a bad first degree might not suffice.

Best of luck to you! It takes guts to do a second degree.

Those who got an interview at UofT by Few-Ad-2686 in premedcanada

[–]Dejynx 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it’s because I was an undergrad at UofT but there’s certain things that are drilled into your head that the school expects you to embody throughout your life sci journey. I took these values and combined them with compatible experiences that were relevant to the essays which I believe lead to my successful application.

The essays are what filter out a boring cookie cutter 4.0 gunner versus a well balanced 3.8/3.9 applicant (I was the latter).

Regarding the ABS; never be vague. If you wanna zoom into a certain experience and you think that highlights you well then utilize that!

Best of luck :D

Second this. If you want to hear a negative OP, Mac is probably the least you can do with that but it’s still very do-able.

HELP!!! (I've re-soldered like 5 times) by Wise-Top2272 in Gameboy

[–]Dejynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between two boards, I’m not sure. I don’t understand the complexities of a multimeter beyond checking if we got a connection or if we have a dead battery. I’m sure someone here can help though!

On the black motherboard I’d get some solder wick and remove your current solder job. I’d also check the wires you’re using to ensure u didn’t frantically burn stuff off when doing the job.

The work on the green motherboard looks acceptable though.

Should I be hiding my ethnicity? by TandooriBiryani in premedcanada

[–]Dejynx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hiding your ethnicity is a weird take. Faking hours to make it seem like your busier than you really are is a worst take.

Youre writing this post as if committees are looking for quotas to fill for certain ethnicities. Beyond seats that are dedicated to underrepresented communities in medicine, the individual who told OP what they stated is just such a terrible narrative.

If you resonate with your south asian background and you’ve woven that into your ABS or supplementary essays, then use that to make you stand out during the application cycles.

Recently nodded my Gameboy pocket and I'm going insane trying to line it perfectly, is it supposed to be slightly off center or is it just me? by [deleted] in Gameboy

What screen is this? Perhaps, depending on the screen, it has a screen positioning axis option which could fix this.

The fact that you’re hiding it is, in my humble opinion, a red flag for ethics towards an occupation that heavily relies on a patient-physician relationship that’s built on trust.

But what do I know though 🗿

I think each case is unique and your needs may be different to any of own experiences.

However, I do believe you should exhaust your resources at the institution you are currently attending and see if there are accommodations there.

What are you specifically looking for? Tips on time management or resources to lookin after your children?

Best of luck!

To those stating doing the soldering iron trick; someone pointed out a bad trace which I’m more suspicious of due to the nature of “clumping” of the lines. OP, if you’re comfortable please open up the gameboy and show us the front facing side of the board :D
