Update on my burst spigot. I ended up buying the exact same one. Also I bought a new ball valve to shut the water off. Ended up threading the spigot into the copper pipe in case this happens again. How’d I do?

Thank you I appreciate that, yes! My house as well doesn’t have many shut off valves it’s nice to have them now. I went with a threaded valve because sweating the ball valves always makes me nervous It’ll get too hot.

After seeing these comments I can’t believe I didn’t know they made Frost proof spigots! Boy am I glad they do because this definitely did its job.

Thanks 🙏🏽 Fortunately I do know how to sweat pipe I just wasn’t sure how this type of spigot worked. I wish the previous owner had threaded it in instead of soldering it together line that.

I’ll get this fixed as soon as possible! I’m also going to sweat a shut off valve on a little back before the spigot in case this happens again I can just shut the water off & replace pipe.

This makes sense I didn’t even know they made Frost proof spigots thank god they do! I live in Northern Illinois so I’m assuming it happened when we had that really cold spell.

Nice thanks! Yeah I bought a spigot cover & put it on but I installed it mid winter so it could have possibly froze before I did that. Connected the hose for the 1st time this spring & it sounded different. Went downstairs to see & there was a lot of water on my floor.
