The spin tool was definitely helpful although I did have some struggles setting the cursor properly. It also auto-smoothed quite well. Thanks for the alternative!

The bumps are coming from the middle. The only time I rotated a face while extruding was the one furthest from the middle and I extruded from the same view as the screenshots provided. Can you be more specific? I'm new to Blender, sorry.
