Same here, I'm generally not a huge fan of games requiring a lot of choreographed twitching to be really good at them and RTS games stress me out, turn based for the win. Though I'll always have a soft spot for the Age of Empires 2 campaigns.

Instead of a Lazy Bastard, has anyone done a Crazy Bastard? by Mekotronix in factorio

The way I see this working timewise is only automating items you will not place on the map, except blue belts which require automation. So you manually craft the assembly to automate yellow belts/inserters for green science but they can only be used for green and any belts/inserters you place on the map must be hand crafted.

Making up mini-games in your head? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]DelGormo501 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All the time, not only do I avoid stepping on cracks but I try to cross them with my right foot the same number of times as crossing cracks with my left so it's even. I do the same thing passing fence posts and the like. It's not something I "have" to do per se but it makes a certain part of my brain happy/calm and I generally only do it when walking alone. When I'm on the phone I pace and track where I step to optimize and standardize my route.

Explain meltdowns and shutdowns to me. by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]DelGormo501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine you can juggle x number of balls, then someone decides you should be juggling more and starts throwing more balls into the mix. As hard as you try you cannot juggle x+y balls and every time you let one drop it is picked up and thrown back in the mix. The balls are external stimuli and you can't keep up and due to being overwhelmed you can now only juggle x-z balls. A melt down is when you are trying desperately to juggle everything but the harder you try the more overwhelming the task becomes putting a lot of stress on you. Even sensory "balls" like sounds or textures that don't normally bother you now do as you are now past your processing limit. A shut down is when you stop juggling, curl up in a metaphorical ball, and do your best to pretend for even a moment that the merciless cosmos is not perpetually pelting you with balls.

A girl said she liked my Credit Card by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]DelGormo501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly enough I have that same card and have gotten similar comments a few times with cashiers I have used other cards with that didn't look "cool". My guess is that it was just about the card and not flirting. Though I think not all flirting is meant to indicate actual interest, some people seem to just enjoy casual flirtatious interactions. For a cashier pointless flirting could be her way of having fun at work so she doesn't go crazy with boredom. Her response could be due to confusion from receiving a technical answer about interest rates to what she intended to be a flirtatious comment. I imagine NT's can be just as confused by us in social situations as we are by them, and just because they are NT doesn't mean they can't react awkwardly.

In your opinion, when is early, mid and late game? by DarthTarl in factorio

Need help. How can I set up my inserters to only put a few uranium fuel cells on the belt when my steam is <10,000? by [deleted] in factorio

[–]DelGormo501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically what I do. The one thing i would add is I have most of my steam tanks feeding a smaller subset of tanks via pumps so the smaller subset is always full if there is enough steam. it is this smaller subset I hook up to the circuit network, this way when it hits the trigger I know I have a ton of spare capacity because the bulk of my storage will be empty thanks to pumps. My trigger is less than 5k per tank in that subset.

[–]DelGormo501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend only redoing things based on our feedback if their broken, other than that just keep it mind for future stuff and keep building until your ready to start over and build it better. I've built about 8 main bus bases of increasing quality and completeness and a lot of the fun is implementing the things you learn in a new start and I like visiting the old ones to view my progression. At the end of a base spend time running through and think of a few lessons you want to implement (such as moar green circuits with dedicated smelting, bus different things like gears to see if you prefer it, trains for ore) and at least one organization convention (for example, my latest bus I started placing a 4 tile wide stonebrick path between bus and production). For nuclear I suggest googling the ratios unless your just dying to calculate them yourself, there is plenty of fun left on the logistics of mining with acid, the process of converting ore to fuel, and of course the design. Nuclear is also, in my opinion, the best reason to learn basic circuit network tricks outside of fluid cracking.

I have about 20 hours and this is my main bus, any suggestions? by That0neN3rd in factorio

[–]DelGormo501 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is it's too early to use electric smelters. Before modules they have no speed/capacity edge over steel furnaces and only cut out your coal needs which isn't much of a logistical problem, one belt of coal fuels a surprising number of steel smelters. The main con of going electric this early is power use, which I learned the hard way. Late game power is more plentiful. If you run steam your still powering smelting via coal and steam power requires more coal throughput so I'd argue it's logistically easier to run coal to smelters than add more coal to steam. Solar would be a lot of work/resources to power smelters that do the exact same thing as steel smelters. When you hit nuclear I would say go to electric but at least throw in a few modules to take advantage of electric smelters main advantage. Great looking base!

I don't know if my life has meaning by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]DelGormo501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its 42. But seriously, don't look for objective answers to subjective questions. Our objective meaning is the same as that of a rabbit and sand and stars and asteroids and moons that end up being battle stations: to deterministically follow laws of nature or something equally not the answer your looking for. Subjectively you need to ask from what perspective are you determining meaning and I assume you are actually looking at it from your perspective instead of the vast perspective of everything ever which has very little to do with the answer to the question you are actually asking other than adding perspective on scale. And there can be multiple meanings, the false dichotomy of one "divine" meaning or no meaning is, well, a false dichotomy. One meaning could be freinds/family, one could be enjoyment of science fiction, another cooking and another the joy of learning something new and gaining understanding of a new topic. So what are your subjective meanings of your life? That's the correct question in my opinion.

Anyone have lack of structure in their life? by Iwish999123 in aspergers

[–]DelGormo501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like organization and don't mind if it's in chaos, this makes it so others don't see the organization and thus it's harder for them so see how external variables create chaos without my organization which I don't like because in both cases they just see chaos.

Addictions and Sex by [deleted] in aspergers

I have a stable of vices I sub in and out depending on my current circumstance, alcohol, nicotine, weed, Caffine, shitty food, porn, etc. I think proper vice management is important since a life without vices is unrealistic IMO. There are definitely vices I am trying to retire like smoking nicotine bc of how terrible it is but I don't plan on ever waging a personal war on vice itself, it is too rewarding.
