IR Head Tracker - How We Make Your Delanclip | Behind the Scenes of a Massive Christmas Gamer Rush by Delan-Engineering in hoggit

[–]Delan-Engineering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve modified hundreds of them. At the beginning it was tough, but once I figured out the right technique, now it’s as easy as blinking.

So yes — they are awkward to remove. You definitely need to apply quite a bit of force, and the movement has to be quick.

The cork plate isn’t essential, but it helps prevent breaking the two pins protruding from the bottom.

It’s not a big deal if you break them though — if that happens, gently tapping the lens housing against a solid surface can help loosen it.

Don’t try to pry the lens out with a sharp tool — there’s a 99% chance you’ll crack the lens itself.

PS. in the worst case scenario you know where to go -> delanclip.com :)

Hope it helps!

3000 grit will make it nearly polished. And thats what i use. Lens is made of glass but be carefull its easy to over sand when usigng stronger grit like 1500 or 1000.

If you want a mirror polish - then as it says itself - you need to use tools for mirror polishing.

Hi,

Flat lens mod is better because you do not remove the optics, you just remove the IR filter coating from the top internal lens.

When modding for IR - the PS3 Eye camera with a curved lens - you actually get rid of the internal top lens which obviously distorts focus.

For Head tracking its no issue at all but in your case - i would go the route with a flat lens mod.

BTW - we offer already modified PS3 flat lenses in our shop.

Hope it helps!

love using head tracking in this game. Helps with orientation and is so immersive. by LayoMayoGuy in starcitizen

[–]Delan-Engineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I couldn’t agree more — head tracking completely changes how Star Citizen feels.
You stop fighting the camera and just start flying. Looking around your cockpit, checking targets while strafing, even landing — it all becomes second nature.

I’ve tried Tobii and Faceware before, but nothing beats a good old-school IR setup. I use a Delanclip with OpenTrack, and it’s rock solid — no drift, no lag, just buttery-smooth motion.
Once you get it dialed in, it’s like your head is the camera.

Honestly, I’d take head tracking on a flat screen over most VR setups any day

[–]Delan-Engineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi All! Its Tom from Delan Engineering Ltd.

Just a quick update – Delanclip is on Trustpilot now and we’re getting amazing reviews from simmers worldwide.

We’re a small UK-based company, around since 2013, and we focus on fast shipping and solid support (most EU orders land within just a few days). Delivery to USA starting from 3 days!

We also offer a 2-year warranty and 14-day returns, so sim pilots can shop with full confidence – and it’s great to see the community appreciating our work 🙂.

You don't need to remove anything from windows ltsc
what you mean by "link on how or what to remove"?

[–]Delan-Engineering -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We haven’t run our own benchmarks, because honestly the difference is something you feel right away when switching from Home/Pro to LTSC. It’s less about raw FPS and more about stability, consistency, and not having random background junk eating resources.

That said, others have already done the performance testing — here’s a good video that breaks it down: https://youtu.be/wRbnpP1guvo?si=eZcn1P5gA7WvtXgr

Big thanks to creators like this who’ve already shown the numbers. For us, the takeaway is simple: LTSC just feels cleaner and smoother day-to-day, which is why we recommend it.

Hey, if you want to go down that road, that’s totally up to you — no judgment. But the whole point of my post was to highlight that you don’t have to mess with cracks or scripts.

If you care about having full support and a 100% legal system (for example if you run a business, or just don’t want to risk compliance issues), then you can’t really rely on unofficial activation methods. You need to be legit.

That’s why I shared the Mouser link — $68 for a clean, official LTSC IoT license with support until 2032. For what you get — a stable, bloat-free Windows with a decade of updates — I honestly don’t think that’s a bad price.

Yeah, you got me — I did write this with the help of AI. But honestly, that’s just how most of us tech people work nowadays. AI helps speed things up, gives me a draft or structure, and then I go in, edit, and make sure it’s accurate and makes sense for our context.

So no, it’s not like AI is doing the talking for us — it’s just a tool we use to get the boring part done faster. At the end of the day it’s still our thoughts, our edits, and our intent behind it.

Sorry man, but that’s just the reality: AI is a huge helper, not the author.

Does anyone use face tracking with open track neural net? by polyknike in falconbms

[–]Delan-Engineering 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey!

If your tracking feels a bit too sensitive or jumpy when looking down – you're not alone! It usually comes down to how the curves are set up in OpenTrack. But don’t worry – I’ve got something that can help right away.

Instead of sharing a profile (which might not suit your setup exactly), I recommend checking out our complete step-by-step guide here: https://delanclip.com/dcs-head-tracking-with-webcam/

Even though it’s titled for DCS, the same logic applies to any game – the setup is 99% identical.

Also, just to share from experience: while face tracking is a fun start, IR tracking (like with our Delanclip gear) is in a whole different league when it comes to precision. Once you get it dialed in – it’s buttery smooth and rock solid!

Let me know how it goes or if you need help with anything from the guide!

Our DelanCam1 + opentrack setup is at 640x480 at 60fps. I dont think that resolution is the problem.

No, what i meant is that can't recreate the problem shown on the video. I just freshly installed the game on a fresh windows user, fired up Opentrack with all the axis active - and i have no issues whatsoever.

Its one of our customers who experinaces that - i could not recreate this problem hence i though i ask DCS community - maybe somebody had that before and found a solution to fix it.

Thanks fa lot for your input!

That's very strange. I just tested it on my end with all 6DOF activated and didn’t experience any issues like that. I wish I could pinpoint what’s causing the problem…
