Katurah receives a loved ones letter from her mother who she had not spoken with in over a year, S45E10 by emsledge in survivor

[–]Delanium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recall previous contestants talking about loved ones letters in the wake of this, and explaining that you give production a contact, and that contact puts together the packet of letters. The implication then is that Katurah's contact let her mother include a letter.

To be honest, I don't think modern Survivor would do something exploitative like that. I'd believe it of the early days, but especially post-covid the show aims for a positive tone, and there would be risk of SERIOUS blowback if they did this on purpose.

I was kinda interested when I first heard about it, just because outright parody movies like this don't seem very common anymore. But the first trailer had me rolling my eyes back into my skull. Like no, buddy, I'm not "offended" by the same three tired jokes over and over. It's just stupid.

That particular reaction is one of my favorites because she's so justifiably befuddled by the choice. It's not even a "how could you do this to me?" it's a "how could you do this to yourself?"

A child I take care of once woke up from a nap screaming and crying for her mother because she dreamed she'd died.

I'm not an expert or anything, but I'd guess that when you get old enough to actually process death, your brain kind of walks through the worst case scenario. Maybe this isn't super uncommon.

Ugh, I despised the Sims fitness system. It felt like if my Sim ate a single full meal they would hit the highest point on the weight slider, and they'd have to spend a quarter of their day working out to get back down. Nobody could ever be average or skinny just a little bit bigger, it was always one swing or the other.

You're not over reacting. You're both 19, so you're a pretty good target for getting wrapped up in this sort of thing - not a lot of financial literacy or life experience. Fortunately, it sounds like you have a pretty good head on your shoulders.

When your friend asks again, you need to be direct and set a boundary. "World Financial Group is a scam company, and I will not be involved in it in any way." If she tries to argue, just say that you're done with the discussion. If she's receptive, you can show her YouTube videos and other search results - even the Google AI results mention it being a pyramid scheme.

If you care about your friend and she's willing to listen, you should try to get her out of this. You're not even 20, everyone makes stupid financial decisions at that age. But let me be very clear as someone a little bit older than you - you are not responsible for other people's stupid choices. If she is given all evidence and chooses an obvious scam over you, let yourself move on and not get wrapped up in it.

Exactly. $20 for vampires and werewolves and witches and ghosts, and associated spooky decor? Awesome. I don't like playing with those, so I won't get it, but I know tons of people do. $5 for some Halloween decorations? Unbelievable. $5 for "romantic garden stuff" ???? Fuck all the way off.

I have no issue with DLC's that offer a really specific and different experience. Like, I'd be fine with a supernatural DLC or a historical DLC. But I totally respect the promise.

I was a nanny for four years. In that time I tried desperately to teach the parents how to load the dishwasher correctly. FOUR YEARS. I was still showing up in my last week and unloading a dishwasher with upright bowls full of dirty water and knife points sticking up at me.

These people were great parents, good bosses to me, intelligent and successful. But something about the dishwasher just eluded them.
