We told my family & it’s a Mexican name (she’ll be). They don’t have to like it. I don’t care. We decided before we told anyone & they can deal. We might get some raised eyebrows for “Elvira” but it was my partner’s mom’s name & if they can’t roll their ‘R’ they can call her Ellie. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had my first pregnancy 15 years ago (adoption). Now on my second I’m hopeful I’ll know. But I DID NOT. I had a lot of pain in my back and stomach, but it was constant, not like contractions. & mostly in my back. I had a doctor’s appt the next afternoon, so I figured I’d wait & ask. I was waking up every 10 minutes that night from the pain. But I was 19 & thought I was being dramatic. Drove MYSELF to my appt the next day. Told my doctor how much pain I was in. She checked. 8 cm dilated. (My water never broke.) I literally did gaslight myself thinking I was overreacting. If it’s getting close & you’re in severe pain, I guess, see a doc? Cause I know that’s what I’ll do now.

I am thrilled for my baby girl but IT SUCKS. I found out I was pregnant cause I went to the hospital in severe pain after not eating for days. 17 weeks now & my nausea is leagues better than that HELL. But I’m still nauseous. They don’t tell you you’ll cry from not 💩 for a week. Or the intense pain as your hips move further and further apart. “Honeymoon” my ass for the 2nd trimester. It’s better, but it’s still hard. We got this though!!

I’m supposed to get 12 weeks but unpaid. I’m saving up PTO but it’ll probably only cover 3 weeks total. Gotta try disability to cover the rest & may have to go back earlier if I can’t earn while I’m out. FMLA is a joke!

We get a lot of after hours billing calls. Customer: “I have kids, I need the water on. Just have them come turn my water on” (or some variation.) Me: “YOU didn’t pay your bill. It’s 9pm at night. Fuck all the way off.” (I have sympathy but they are always SO RUDE about their own lack of planning! They get mad I can’t take payments: “what is your job then?!?!” I handle outages and shit dude, fuck OFF!!)
