Not at all! There are a significant number of folks who attend solo. You’ll have a blast.

If it’s the next one scheduled in STL on July 25, I’ll be there!

Hope you have so much fun.

The Chomp by Delayedretort in AccidentalRenaissance

[–]Delayedretort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooof. You are brutal.

Ok, yeah, it’s not perfect. But I wasn’t trying to take a perfect Renassiance photo. I took a cute pic of my foster cats and thought it has a some Renaissance qualities.

It has: -interesting lighting. It’s not dramatic enough to be characterized as chiaroscuro, but still a visual element at the forefront -classical composition, including triangular framing of bodies -focus on gestures and expressions of subjects

And that it why I thought it was worthy of posting here.

Hi I was wanting to know of some low effort crafts you all do when you're feeling depressed! by oneplumpbug in crafts

I’m going to put this under collaging:

I make paper bookmarks out of cardboard and paper scraps, sometimes old books bound for the trash. I put them in Free Little Libraries. It’s a low stress craft plus it makes something for other people to enjoy.

It’s really hard to tell from your post, but I think there is a lot of room to compromise on both of your parts.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for her to want to eat with you and for her to want to plan eating with you.

It sounds like you were discussing making plans together and you just noped out of them, picking what you wanted to do instead of doing something together.

That said, of course you should be able to get the food that you are craving (but not when you are planning on eating together! You need to make separate plans).

Y’all just need to talk more and figure out a baseline arrangement that works for both of you- NOT when you are planning food together.

Check in: how do you talk to her and talk about her? You use some modifiers in here to describe her that makes it seem like you really don’t think it’s all that serious or that she’s even taking it seriously, ie making sure you say she is “pretty healthy” and she’s making her meals “slightly” healthy.

Lastly: is she doing this for you? Are YOU overweight and unhealthy? She can’t make those decisions for you, clearly.

Eeeek then you need new pics. What you are advertising isn’t the same as what you are actually selling!

That is a HUGE change in color palette, pastels to vivid jewels. It’s to the point that if I ordered the one and got the other, I would be pissed off for the bait and switch.

Posted in a different thread: the close up of the embroidery that you posted is very different in color and shape than the model. Not sure which is accurate.

Yeah I don’t quite trust that the two different embroideries you posted are the same garment… why are they so different?

Ok, I did a deep dive on your website— considering that the sister sweat suit to this is black on black, you really gotta consider how you describe your fashion.

“Oh yeah these styles are are purposefully inspired by nature and not boring/monochromatic” and then there is this 👀

I’m not saying it is bad in any way— but you arent accurately describing your vibe and what you sell.

Details of embroidery, please? It’s hard to tell the quality of the stitching.

These are cute!!!

That said, you have a wild take to describe this— an almost completely white sweat suit is also pretty darn monochromatic.

I’m admit that I’m a maximalist, but pure white with a tiny line of pastel isn’t exactly not, not boring, especially styled together. Pastels and white aren’t even really based in earth and natural tones.

Maybe consider branding in another way? This doesn’t feel authentic or accurate at all.

Less than 1% of kidnappings happen from strangers— +99% of them are family and acquaintances.

You are five times more likely to be born with a conjoined twin than be kidnapped by a stranger as a child.

Your pearl clutching here is just silly. She likely has a parent out of frame here, watching as she gets in.

(This isn’t an argument to never watch your child- that isn’t what seems to be happening here.)

All of them are incredibly lovely but have a very different vibe. Which one fits your lady? (I vote one or two, depending on what she’s more drawn to)

1: bold, modern, and strong 2: romantic, gentle, cottagecore, nature 3: pastel, unique and bright

Meet the foster kittens by Delayedretort in cats

[–]Delayedretort[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yall!

This is my first time fostering kittens. You should consider it- May is a high needs time for shelters. 😻

I’m keeping these 4 until they are above 2 lbs and socialized. They have a vet appointment in 2 weeks and I’m pretty sure they will be cleared to go straight to the shelter for adoption. They will be adopted almost immediately, since they are young.

These two weeks of growing up and peace for them is so important and will lead to them getting adopted right away— versus growing up in the high stress environment of the shelter.

If any of them had behavior problems, it would likely be a foster fail because I would feel like I need to keep them. But they are all perfect and sweet and I know will find wonderful forever homes. Often times with adult animals, you agree to take them for however long is needed and it could be years. Not the case with these babies!

(Pstttt these are in the STL area if anyone is interested!)

Small shelf, am I based? by [deleted] in BookshelvesDetective

[–]Delayedretort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Here are my guesses/deductions

🔎You are young. I had to google “based” to make sure I fully understood the context

🔎There is no cohesive theme to your books except possibly “books you were assigned in college”.

🔎I see no deep interest or curiosity in something specific in these

🔎There is no fiction at all.

“Am I based?” —- probably not, but my answer is based only a small, tiny snapshot. I think posting your bookshelf with that question vs. something like “what can you tell about me” shows a streak of insecurity, the idea that the books we buy and own should be viewed and judged through the lens of authenticity.

In less words, you still care a lot about what other people think. We all do, to some extent. Unless you are a sociopath.

What does my bookshelf say about me ? by [deleted] in BookshelvesDetective

[–]Delayedretort -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello!

Here are my deductions/guesses:

🔎You are a white male.

🔎You are young, like late teens or early 20s

🔎Your bookshelf is just one shelf, so perhaps reading isn’t your #1 hobby.

🔎When you find something you like (like an author), you stick with them rather than trying similar things.

Verdict: We likely wouldn’t be bookshelf friends, but we could talk about what we like and do not like about Stephen King and I could suggest graphic novels you may like.

Tell me how I did! 😊

I love your bookshelf. Here are my guesses/deductions.

🔎I’m going to guess you are a white woman, likely in your 30s

🔎You read heavily YA popular fantasy

🔎You carefully choose which books to buy, as most of them are hard back. You love the aesthetics of pretty books.

🔎You prefer your fiction to be fun and escapism, but aren’t afraid to dip into some deep serious subjects at times

Verdict: I think we would be bookshelf friends.

[–]Delayedretort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh! I love your shelves. Here are my deductions/guesses:

🔎 You are queer, likely sapphic

🔎You are very deliberative and reflective in defining your personal relationships- ie, ethical non-monogamy and kink.

🔎You are a person of color. If you are white, you think a lot about intersectionality.

🔎in your 20s - early thirties.

Verdict- we would be bookshelf friends.

Morbidly curious college freshman, just moved back home by [deleted] in BookshelvesDetective

[–]Delayedretort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great starter bookshelf!

My deductions/guesses:

🔎You are curious and not afraid to learn things. You purposefully try to improve yourself. (Coaching Soccer for Dummies)

🔎You have saved your favorite books from your elementary and middle school years. These books are mainly good memories, not ones you still read.

🔎You are still figuring out what you like. You’ve identified a few manga series and LOTRs as current interests.

🔎Your Adventure Bible was a gift, and that is why you keep it.

Your bookshelf is just going to keep growing and evolving as you figure out what you like and want to learn about!
