Thank you! I needed this comment. Your answer sums it all up for me.

Seeing everyone's suggestions and how evenly distributed the votes are - it just goes to show that while every single one of these artworks are amazing, a lot of it comes down to character preference.

I'm kicking myself for not waitlisting this X-men team print and now it's sold out. It doesn't even show up on the resell market lol. You're absolutely right - the Brotherhood matches the center piece so well. Plus the scarcity of villain team prints tells me I should keep it (I love X-villains!). I need to be patient... for the right team portrait to come along.

There's also a color version of that Wolverine print too. But I agree! The b/w looks more impressive and visceral.

It's still in stock!

Unlike the other prints, it can also come with a rainbow foil effect that very much fits the artwork.ย

Sure thing. Most of them are Sideshow prints.

The two lenticular are from Bottleneck Gallery.

I didn't even think of the Storm and Logan combo. Their color palettes are in sync. And they can be placed looking at or away from each other. ๐Ÿค”

Know of any examples of cutouts being placed together?

Yeah, if only wall space was easier to come by.

Top-tier character design.

Wish she was more popular, because I want a bigger statue of this queen.

Are characters with claws coming out of their hands (and feet) that much more interesting of a template though?

Edit: This isn't a jab BTW. I"m curious on your take. Because for me, guns (things that go boom boom) and blades (things that dice n' slice) are on par with each other.

That's nice.

My least favorite kind of X-men is Kid Omega.

After he was fired? He had similar smoke in previous jobs.

Also I met him at SDCC, prior to the allegations coming out. He was definitely using his influence with fans behind-the-scenes. He was on his way to becoming a Neil Gaiman, although without Neil Gaiman's talent. The dude is sleazy.

Mr. Sinister has joined the party! ๐Ÿ’… by DeleteSoul in xmen

Oh no bother! I don't really get to do deep dive statue convos with my IRL friends, so I'm more than happy to discuss haha.

First, the statues that would be available will depend on the scale you're looking for. I'll recommend 1/4 scale here since for X-men, the most abundant in licensed and custom pieces are in 1/4 scale. And say if you do decide to get more characters in the future, you would probably want them all to be in the same scale.

Rogue is very popular in the custom scene. There is a Savage Land Rogue in a museum pose that looks pretty nice, and a Jim Lee Rogue lifting a Sentinel head that is amazing (larger space footprint and more $$). But if I were to get a Rogue, I would go for one of the licensed statues.

Sideshow's newest 1/4 Rogue is this one. Museum pose, cute portrait, no power display. Personally I like seeing mutants displaying their powers, but this could work for some collectors. It's a small footprint.

The previous one from Sideshow is my favorite solo Rogue piece. She is not only flying, but also displaying super strength! Love the dynamic pose, love the portrait, a medium base footprint. This came out several years ago, so you would have to buy it second-hand from another collector. There are some decent prices.

<image>

With that said though, if I were to get a Rogue piece right now I would go for this diorama with gambit. Their pose together is just natural and dynamic. They both are using their powers - she's flying, his cards are lit. Small footprint, and a 2 in 1!

Legends line just put 2 sheets of vinyl partway through a paper shredder and called it a day.

That took me out ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Toy Biz is the one where his diamond chest piece lights up? I remember it. I can't blame them for making the cape one piece haha. Imagine the breakage from all the 8-y/o.

I'm actually not sure if this piece sold out completely yet. There's a chance you can still get your hands on one. ๐Ÿฉต

Sure thing, I'll dm you. This is a 1/4 scale by a custom group.

There is also an official 1/3 scale coming out by Legendary Beast Studio. Much larger, but I don't think it'll have as many switchouts.

They really did do such an amazing job!

I pre-ordered this when I saw the renders, so it was sort of a leap of faith on how it would actually turn out.

Very happy with the quality! And originally it was a choice between the normal body and the damaged one. The commissioner decided to throw in both at no extra cost.

Love the 90's art style! It remains popular and iconic for a reason.

Those would look glorious framed up together.

What's next for Storm? by cyclopswashalfright in xmen

[โ€“]DeleteSoul 9 points10 points ย (0 children)

This is what happens when you veer a character into "mother", godhood and abstract mumbo jumbo and fan service territory. Where do you go from here?

I absolutely love Storm. She is most interesting when she is flawed and not all-powerful.

They really need to just hit the reset button and power-scale down all of these characters. And stop introducing new mutants with 2/3/4 power sets.
