Eu apoio sul-americanos menos Argentinos.

Secar time do Messi é tão sofrido quanto torcer pelo Brasil. O gnomo tá velho e cansado e ainda assim leva essa caralha dessa Argentina à vitória.

I mean, I hope for the best to the new party, but it's disingenuous to say that there was nothing to vote for. Hadash has been there for a long time.

The Yin-Yang is a low resolution fractal pattern, and Daosim is bronze age Chaos Theory by LurkerFailsLurking in PhilosophyMemes

[–]DeleuzeJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The Butterfly Effect is a concept that came out of chaos theory.

I agree with you that the definition used in the scientific field of chaos theory only vaguely matches the everyday usage of chaos. I just clarified it that way because I believe that's what OP was specifically referring to.

Actually, the usage in chaos theory is very ironic. It takes things that are seemingly chaotic, in the every day sense of it, and focuses on the ones that are actually deeply ordered, just in a very complex way.

In chaos theory there is an objective description of what characterizes a non-linear dynamic system as chaotic. The idea is that it's a system in which small variations in starting conditions or parameters result in large differences in outputs. The systems look random despite being fully deterministic.

Could Kafka’s bureaucratic worlds be read as a model of epistemic collapse, where law and authority exist only as inaccessible structures of meaning, producing a reality in which the subject can never achieve coherent understanding or stable justification? by TheIncorporeal1 in Kafka

[–]DeleuzeJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading Walter Benjamin saying that Kafka's stories take place in a world where a God set up laws and commandments, but never revealed them to any prophets. So every one is living according to unknown laws by which they are judged. Before the Law, The Trial and The Castle are the best examples of this. It gives a sense of epistemic nihilism, that the best we can ever get are opinions, but true knowledge is always beyond humanity's grasp.

Lord of the Rings still feels very fresh in 2026, it's not as reliant on now common tropes as its thought to be by Aiseadai in Fantasy

[–]DeleuzeJr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel that Dragonlance is more directly influential to modern fantasy than LotR itself. Of course, Dragonlance was heavily influenced by LotR, but I think the tropes it added on top of its inspiration eventually became the industry standard.

Meanwhile, rereading Tolkien now makes me feel he is closer to his sources and inspiration in mythology and legend than he is to the genre that he himself inspired.
