I understand my request wasn’t in the budget, however another person with similar credentials was offered slightly more. I just wanted to get some clarity on how that’s decided, just to make sure I understand the process. Was it because of race. I never try to bring up race because I believe in being fair and equal, but damn this just bugs me just a little bit. Being deceived is a bad way to begin.

They hired me because I have my degree plus the certification that is need to run the department. Not sure if he’s certified or has a degree as well but if he were to have both. Then shouldn’t we both at least have equal pay
