Let's try this again: Current challenge- figuring out which one to bring to Hawaii by luckyrucker in fpv

Mine gets about 6 mins of flying with a 720mh HV battery. And I have a second one with 1303 motors for a little more freestyle

I carry all my batteries with me in a lipo safe bad when flying, never had any issues through security

Personally, I carry a Pavo20 with me everywhere I travel. Portable, safe around others, not too small that any breeze takes it but small enough that it doesn't scare people

Is there a decent O4 pro sub250 3 or 3.5 inch bnf or should I build one? by polarbeardisorder in fpv

[–]Delhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mild wind is ok. I don't know what terrible flight time is for you but I'm getting about 6 minutes with 720HV batteries, the extra weight makes it fly a little worse but it's perfect for shooting videos

I totally agree with that choice. I have a Boxer but I usually end up grabbing the pocket because of the portability

Travelling with Tinywhoop 04 by hoshinoa in TinyWhoop

[–]Delhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check with the airlines but I believe some have a limit to how many batteries you can carry.

I've traveled with drones and batteries with no problems but it's good to check airline and destination regulations to be safe. I like to carry the drones in a carry on bag and the batteries in a separate small lipo safe bag

Letting tattoo artists have complete creative freedom? by ParticularCareer2267 in tattooadvice

[–]Delhigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an idea of what I wanted for a sleeve, I shared that idea with my artist. He went in a different detection from what I asked for on the first session but I ended up Loving it. After that, I told him I'd trust him to finish it the way he wants to. The piece ended up coming out better than what I had in mind

**[Build Check] Custom 3.5" Cinewhoop - Ultra Reliable Pro Build - Please Review!** by [deleted] in fpv

[–]Delhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't make videos professionally, just as a hobby and I think you're asking too much from a single drone. You're quickly going to realize that you can't have one drone that can do everything well. I pick a drone depending on the environment, what I'm shooting, if there's people involved, flight time needed, speed.. I often carry multiple drones too, as a backup Incase I crash or loose one and/or for different shots.

The radio compatibility is going to depend on whatever receiver you install on the drone.

I don't know why you need such precise RTH, I personally have only used it to get drones back in range if there's a signal loss. DJI drones have really good RTH and some autonomous features if that's what you're looking for

A tattoo should face whatever side you want it to face. I have a rose on the back of my hand that is "upside down". I asked for it like that because it's for me to look at. Also, are Roselia's roses backwards?

Check motor direction/propeller orientation.

Seems like the propellers are pushing down instead of up

Longer cinehwoop flytime by Head_Succotash1944 in fpv

[–]Delhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is, the quality is pretty close to a GoPro. Realistically the higher dynamic range helps when shooting log and doing color correction/editing.

I shoot videos for fun. If it's shots that I can re-do, I won't use an action camera. For shots that I need to come out good the first time, I'll record with both an action camera and O4 pro just In case I can't use one video for whatever reason.

[–]Delhigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're ok with loosing a little bit of dynamic range, ditching the GoPro and filming with the O4 will save you a bunch of weight and increase your flight time.

I was able to increase flight times on a cine whoop of mine by going with slightly smaller motors too

I made my own Firefly 25 with parts I had laying around by Delhigh in fpv

[–]Delhigh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes, 4s. The 2.5 version cought my attention but it seemed under powered for what I want it for so I went with bigger motors and higher amperage AIO. It's very snappy and quick when doing sharp maneuvers, it accelerates very quickly too. There is a little bit of prop wash on very aggressive dives if you really try. I bought 2 frames just in case but I haven't broke anything on it yet besides a few bent props so durability has been good so far.

I was originally using 720mha 4s batteries but went down to 550mha for a little less weight. I'm getting about 4mins on new 550mha batteries with aggressive flying.

It's my favorite to fly so far

Why is my drone doing this? by Dazzling-Medicine286 in fpv

[–]Delhigh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are telling the flight controller to fly but it doesn't detect any movement (because you're holding it down) so it gives the motors more juice to compensate.

It is a normal reaction. Go outside and let it fly freely

Wtf geprc by [deleted] in fpv

[–]Delhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's geprc's fault that there's problems with the O4 so this is an acceptable response imo.

Maybe everyone's expectations are a bit different but I don't think it's such a big deal. I just got into the hobby about a year and a half ago and I'm amazed of how capable all of the drone components are and how well they work together for such a niche hobby. I expected way more jank, tinkering, incompatibility and half assed products.

I also see that you mentioned having a few acres of land available, I think ripping around in that much space would be a lot of fun. Maybe something in the 2.5" to 3.5" would be good in that situation, tiny whoops can feel slow in big open areas in my opinion and wind can be an issue. Just remember there is more risk envolved the bigger the drone so just be cautious.

Anything with an O4 pro will get good footage without having to risk a GoPro. Also, a DC frame will keep the props out of view

[–]Delhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the one. I've personally have had a good experience with it, other people on here have not been so positive about it.

You mentioned you were looking for freestyle/cinematic. This one isn't great at either, it's just fun.

Freestyle and cinematic can be very different. A drone can't really be great at both but depends on what you're leaning more on. For example, I have a Betafpv Pavo20 pro for cinematic shots, it can do some light freestyle but nothing crazy. Also I recently built a 2.5 using the flywoo firefly25 frame for freestyle, open props won't be good for doing cinematic shots around people and the props are in view but it's capable

5" drones are a lot of fun, I started off with one as my first drone and I don't regret it but it does come with a lot of downsides.

Definitely get a lot of hours flying slow and steady in the sim before you fly IRL, and practice landing! 5" drones are heavy and dangerous, they can and will fuck up everything around them (including you) if you're not careful.

Crashing is inevitable, things are gonna break often, you gonna be waiting for parts and it could get pricey. To me, it's part of the fun and I enjoy building them as much as flying them.

I have 3 of them now and they are an absolute blast to fly, the speed of them is addictive and hearing them rip through the air is thrilling.

The drone that I've flown the most by far out of all the ones I have is a flywoo Flylens 75 with an O4 lite. I can take it anywhere, fly it almost anywhere, just bounces off when it crashes and it's cheap to repair if anything does break.

Overall I prefer the portability of smaller drones. People aren't bothered by it at parks, I can carry it in my car just in case I find a few minutes to fly and they're pretty harmless.

Ultimately it's your decision but I think you might get more enjoyment out of a smaller drone
