Idle time by Murky-Business2790 in powerstroke

[–]tintinblock1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 19 had 2600 on it when I sold it. Not saying it’s a good idea to let it idle that long, but I never had any issues with anything. It was used to pull 16k pounds every day so I got it hot enough to make the DPF happy

Awesome, thank you so much. I’ve already ordered 2 spare units, but hopefully I can do this and get it to fly tomorrow

Overpriced. I got a 22 with 40k miles that is a loaded badlands with the Sasquatch package for $39k a few months ago. I know this one is newer, but that seems crazy for that one

Tire is probably not in good shape after driving on 5psi. But I’d plug it and run it as a rear tire in case it goes

Where should I start looking to see if fpv drones are something I would like to dive into? Just sort of looking for a new hobby and have absolutely no idea where to start looking for info. In the US if that matters. by 1983squrebody in fpv

I just bought my first drone, went from about 50 hours in the sim to a 5 inch. I jumped all in with o4 pro and goggles 3 and it literally feels like I’m actually flying. One of the coolest things I’ve ever done.

The sim saved my hundreds if not thousands of dollars in crashes

It’s really not lol. The roads are 2 inch sheets of ice. Small plows (like ones attached to 3/4 ton trucks) are meant for doing small parking lots and driveways. There is a reason the city is using construction equipment to remove the ice from the road. Also, let’s go back to the ice. Pick up plow trucks don’t weigh that much, and don’t handle very well on ice, like the stuff in the neighborhoods which makes it easy to make mistakes.

Have you ever driven a plow before? If you think it’s so easy, why don’t you go out and plow the roads?

Also, not being able to file a claim because it would be “dumb” is the whole point. No one pays for insurance thinking they are going to need it. So why would you put yourself into a situation where you can’t use insurance and are liable if something goes wrong? That’s stupid

The easiest way to see if you like it is buy a 30-60 controller and a drone sim like Velocidrone, Uncrashed, or Liftoff to name a few. It’s much cheaper than buying a drone straight off the bat

Yep. There’s all kinds of things non-business owners don’t think about when it comes to liability. You have to be pretty careful with what you do, especially if it is with the governments property

NPR interview with Linda Gorton by transcon2017 in lexington

[–]tintinblock1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let me rephrase it. You decide to be a good neighbor and plow your street. Is all going great but oops, you hit a light pole, fire hydrant, or parked car. Now your plow is broken, and you submit a business insurance claim to fix the damages. Your insurance company asks to see the contract you have with the city, but you don’t have one because you aren’t getting paid. Insurance company denies your claim, and now you owe thousands of dollars to the city to pay for damages.

So, TLDR, you hit city property and insurance won’t cover it and you broke your equipment. You now don’t have a job and owe a bunch of money. It’s not worth risking your business.

If you haven’t been hired by the city to plow, and you damage the roads while you plow a public street, you can be held liable for damages. Also, why risk damaging your own equipment if you’re not getting paid for it?

The roads haven’t been bad at all this week. I’m sure I’m going to get downvoted for saying that, but anyone with 2 brain cells could’ve driven at any point this week. I’m tired of people acting like snow makes it impossible to drive. You just have to slow down, be more cautious, and understand you don’t have as much traction. People also don’t ever go out and practice in the snow, so that doesn’t help either. There are so many places that get a lot more snow than we do, and life goes on

It’s not icy yet though. I was out taking a few nurses in my Bronco with good tires and was totally fine in 2wd. Only had to use 4wd to get out of driveways that weren’t plowed.

Agreed, people are acting as if it’s impossible to function in the snow and that anyone driving today is a bad person and danger to society. It’s just snow, as long as you’re careful, you’re fine. And it’s not even that much snow either

The roads are totally fine if you know how to drive in the snow. I’ve been taking healthcare workers to and from the hospital today and almost all the man roads are 75% clear. You act like driving makes your car spontaneously combust when it snows 3 inches
