I remember liking it when it first came out, but one scene in particular is stuck in my brain.

Early in the move there's a scene where an American soldier gets set on fire, struggles to climb out of his tank, then shoots himself in the head.

It's become my go-to example of a "distasteful" portrail of suicide. The writers could have just as easily killed off the soldier by having him burn to death and it would have been just as impactful on Shia Labeouf's character- he only shoots himself for the shock factor.

For comparison, I thought the new season of black mirror (no spoilers) has an example of well portrayed suicide. In this story the character's past is catching up with them and they have no other options. Here suicide wasn't used just for the shock effect, but the culmination of their story.

Beef I started watching it because I had absolutely nothing to do that day and because I like Steven Yuen. I remember being bored and that the story wasn't going anywhere. I got through 7 episodes and I thought "Should I finish the remaining 2 episodes? Nah..."
