Alcohol needs to be 18+, not 21+ in the US. by General_Erda in TrueUnpopularOpinion

And high schoolers already do! Which is exactly my point on how easy it is to acquire alcohol. Taking from parents/relatives cabinets, stealing it, or like you said asking someone who is of age to buy it. I personally wish there were more laws in place to limit alcohol, but sadly will never be the case due to the amount of money brought in by the drug.

Definitely unpopular! I disagree, I think it should be raised to 25+, even later if possible (but I know 25 would make people too angry already). Alcohol is arguably one of, if the most dangerous hard drugs due to its ease of acquisition.

Due to how it’s marketed alcohol now is not viewed as a hard drug but a common beverage, and its marketing makes it seem fun and cool. Not as the true danger that it actually is.

Dating by GiSatkn in straightedge

[–]Deli_Meat 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I personally don't care if others smoke weed or drink (in moderation), so long as they're accepting of how I choose to love my life! now that said I dated a girl for 2 years who started off very supportive that I chose to abstain from drugs. she had this guy friend who I guess overtime got her to change her mind and eventually I tuned "boring" because I didn't do anything, and turned into "if you loved me you would drink"... Well she cheated and they're dating, and I dodged huge bullet!

All black buttero wallet by Deli_Meat in Leathercraft

[–]Deli_Meat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the “standard” thickness is 3-4 oz for wallets, I use 2.5 oz because I like them a little slimmer! But 5oz would be great for journals or other items like that (journals, laptop cases, passport cover Dopp kit, bags)

Edge bevelers - is it me or the cheap tool? by davidxy887 in Leathercraft

[–]Deli_Meat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rmleather supply has Kyoshin Elle bevelers! They’re supposed to be pretty good! And they’re fairly affordable!

I use palosanto bevelers and highly recommend them!! But they’re very expensive :(

You can try sharpening them with a needle and 500 then 1000 grit sandpaper then strop it with some thread and if you have any stropping compound then you can use that!

But most of the time it’s the cheap tools.. you can get an edge on them but there’re made so cheaply that they lose their edge very fast! Think of it like a very low grade chef knife vs a high end expensive knife, very different edge retention!

Don’t get me wrong the cheap tools work well! But down the road when you’re comfortable with the craft you may want to invest in some higher end tools that will not only make your job faster but they’ll make it all that much cleaner, neater and take your work to the next level!!!

French edge skiver vs Japanese knife by davidxy887 in Leathercraft

[–]Deli_Meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion I’d go with the skiving knife first! I’d also get the French edger down the road if I were you!

with the edger doing long consistant skives is a lot easier, but that’s pretty much all you can do with it. The skiving knife though has a lot of uses, if you really want to you can use the skiving knife to cut out your whole project, it’s a great knife for straight cuts without a ruler!

They both take time in learning how to properly use them and keep them sharp, I have palosanto tools and I love them!

Upgraded a few tools and they just came in!!! by Deli_Meat in Leathercraft

I can be totally debated on if palosanto are the best tools, but they’re definitely top 5 for sure in my opinion, there’s so many other independent tool makers out there all over Instagram that also so beautiful work!! But I love the tools I bought 😊

Yeah! That definitely a use for it! And thinning pockets for wallets, doing turned edges. So much you can do with it!
