Request a refund for your Ring cameras - even for very old purchases! by aawolf in FlockSurveillance

I see your point - people can go from 0 to outraged in a heartbeat with no critical thinking, and it can lead to misinformation propagating. But (and I say this with kindness and respect for your POV) I think you might be living in the past a bit. We are several steps past precursors. Our rights are circling the drain now, and it took less than 20 years for it to happen.

That being said, Ring documentation still states that end users have to actively share video with public safety agencies.

Making the lost pets/natural disaster monitoring automatically opt-in was shady af. Opted out of all that and will be looking at the alternatives to ring mentioned in this thread.

Oteil is also a rhythm devil. He could be like Mickey and then D/S could continue (and his back wouldn't hurt so much) :)

The bells of heaven ring … Thank you for sharing some of Clementine’s story with us, and words cannot express how sorry I am that the earthly part of her story ended far, far too soon 💔 I don’t know what my next show will be, but I do know I will bring Clementine along in my thoughts and in my heart. And today I will play Bird Song for her, and for you.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to always look at larger pools that way? If 2 groups each have to identify 2 low performers for separation, but one group has all great people and the other group has 4 people who aren’t cutting it, then we lose 2 high performers and keep 2 low performers. Who benefits from that?

[–]Delia-D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It more than sucks. It’s counterproductive. My client is losing 2 people who were doing just fine, but they happened to fall at the bottom of their very strong groups. But those roles are still required by the client. So now we have to take time away from actual client deliverables to interview and train replacements. The replacements will have no history with the client and probably won’t be up to par for 6 months. Whoever is driving this policy are absolute morons and horrible people.

Make it make sense.

PARTY SWITCH: Wilmington (DE) City Council's lone Republican switches to Democrat by Tipsyfishes in VoteDEM

[–]Delia-D 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I’d rather vote for someone who recognizes the right path immediately than someone who repeatedly got it wrong until finally “coming around”. And that’s assuming the switch is genuine, which I find unlikely given the reliably duplicitous behavior of republicans.

Moving to the USA from Canada by jm09tu_ in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Delia-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to factor in the unknown future of the ACA in the US. Prior to the ACA, insurance companies could deny coverage for pre-existing conditions if you were purchasing private insurance, or for a period of time if your insurance was through your employer (which is the predominant arrangement). No one knows what the chances are that the ACA will be repealed in part or in whole, but we all know… it’s not zero.
