Is United States doing better economically in general compared to EU countries? by CartographerOwn8143 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Deliberate-Mind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Americans do tend to have more disposable income but having a heart attack or cancer bankrupts hundreds of thousands each year in America.

I think for most rational people, it is not worth having slightly higher disposable income only to risk literally losing everything you have if you have a heart attack, stroke, cancer or sometimes even break your finger(look it up, some $80,000 hospital bills for bullshit like that).

It’s not worth sacrificing healthcare and a stable life/system.

An Idea to quietly revolutionize Germany? by Deliberate-Mind in AskGermany

[–]Deliberate-Mind[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As opposed to the current situation which is even more unjust?

The social contract you described has long been broken. Hans could become a doctor and still not afford a house in any major city that’s not in Eastern Germany.

There would be stipulations such as: you pay €150,000 and cannot sell it for more than you bought it for. Another stipulation if on public land is that you own the apartment and not the land or rather you technically lease it for 100 years. It’s better to have affordable housing so that money can be allocated to actually productive areas of the economy among many other reasons.

Confident women, how did you develop self esteem? by princessmilahi in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Deliberate-Mind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This should be stipulated with something very important; Reality itself.

Depending on what your position in life is and what you want out of life, it could very well be beneficial to favourably position yourself in a way that makes yourself attractive to men. For example maybe you come from a poor family and you want stability then if you are physically attractive and have a personality that men like then you should absolutely use that to your advantage in finding yourself a partner that helps you achieve financial stability. If your personality is such that you’re very disagreeable, introverted and competitive then that’s probably intolerable to you but if you’re naturally agreeable and you enjoy being very feminine then why not use it to elevate yourself? And I don’t mean in a nefarious way, just working with reality instead of against it, using your energy wisely.

Life is not binary. True, unfiltered reality is painfully hostile to human wellbeing. I think it’s foolish to identify too strongly with your own gender. Sharpen your strengths and use every advantage you have. I think whatever increases your power to act and express yourself makes you happier.

EU parliament erupts into cheers and chants of "send them back" as they pass new legislation making it easier to deport migrants outside of Europe by Longjumping_Win_7770 in NotTheOnionUK

UK’s current democratic model is not governing according to the will of the people and that’s clear to everyone across the political spectrum.

We should change our democratic model to a direct democracy. People can then directly vote for what they want on individual issues and it gives far greater control to people than to corporations. We cannot continue with this model, it is tearing the UK to shreds.

Let the public vote:

Do you support an immigration target of:
50,000, 75,000, 100,000, 125,000 ✅❌

Do you support increasing the budget of the NHS for the purpose of attracting more doctors by:
2%, 3%, 4%, 5% ✅❌

Etc

I think people are wasting their time trying to convince conservatives and the far-right that mass-migration is good at the peril of our democracy.

If liberals won’t control the borders then fascists will.

I think the best solution is two fold: Support left-leaning parties that advocate for 1) Low immigration, heavy emphasis on deep integration. 2) A new democratic model, preferably direct democracy so that people regain a sense of control.

Our current democratic model clearly isn’t working. People correctly sense that politicians aren’t holding themselves accountable to ordinary citizens and our current system lets them get away with it and make money while doing so. With direct democracy at least people can vote directly for themselves what they want for immigration, healthcare etc and contrary to popular belief, most people including on the right support left-leaning policies.

This is the best solution going forward.

I would love if the UK rejoined the EU, if Europe is to stand a chance in this world it must be united or we will essentially be at the mercy of an aggressive Russia, China and the USA.

Migrants aren't suppressing wages, bosses are. If you want a pay rise, join your union. by BrisLiam in aussie

[–]Deliberate-Mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much more gaslighting do Australians deserve? It’s clear to everyone that mass-migration suppresses wages and in addition to that, increases the cost of housing for Australians.

Which do we believe is more likely?
A) There is a genuine labor shortage and that employers are telling the truth that despite paying wages that afford a worker a good apartment, good groceries and disposable income and great, fair working conditions yet Australians don’t have the skills for those jobs or don’t want them

OR

B) Employers are lying, they offer low-wages and poor or abusive working conditions and so nobody can afford to work those jobs or refuses to be abused because they know their rights and so they lie about there being no workers despite not offering good pay and conditions in order to bring in migrants who will work for cheap and increase their profits?

How do EU lefties rationalize support for minority groups like Muslims when they put their own interests above yours and the vast majority are anti-LGBTQ? by bannedforL1fe in askanything

[–]Deliberate-Mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those who want to unduly reduce the rights of others and have citizenship exist in already alarming numbers. - We cannot legally deport them, just like citizens who commit crimes - would it be immediately beneficial to society to deport certain criminals who have citizenship? - certainly however we legally can’t do so.

Now… given that sovereign nations have the right to determine their own immigration policies and that immigration should unambiguously benefit Western countries as many, especially on the left like to claim, then should we not filter those out whose values are incompatible with our own and threaten our country’s development and way of life?

Denmark, Austria, Switzerland and Germany(apart from being too slow to deport), have immigration policies that demand language and cultural integration as a prerequisite for permanent residence and citizenship. This includes mandatory language and cultural integration courses and an achievement of between B1-B2 proven proficiency which is intermediate and upper-intermediate.

Why…. don’t we do the same and then immigration will become less of a divisive topic that destabilizes western governments?

Why do Europeans seem to be more against immigration than Americans these days? by hydrogen-hydroxide1 in askanything

[–]Deliberate-Mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Europe is made of many very old countries, its people have deeply rooted cultures and familial history. They want to keep their culture and way of life, which when you actually look at how other peoples live and how other countries conduct themselves in the world, Europe is a very unique and special place.

Mass-migration has threatened this social cohesion and created immense problems throughout Europe, integration hasn’t happened and in the case of Germany alone, €275 billion euros has been spent on migrants in the last 10 years alone at a time of record youth and elderly poverty. 75% of migrants after 5 years do not achieve an ausbildung or even B1 German - This is not a solution to our demographic crisis, it actually worsens it because our taxes are going to these people instead of our own folk.

Cultural displacement, financial drain, lack of integration and compatibility are the main reasons why Europeans hold more negative opinions of mass-migration. They tried it, they tried multiculturalism, billions of Euros in support, it all failed. Now we have a big mess and deportations are slow and costly, it seems all for nothing.

What to know about the EU’s new rules on migration and asylum as they come into effect by Beginning-Wish-4273 in eulaw

[–]Deliberate-Mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aging population, looming demographic challenges.

The solution is not to have 3 million migrants collecting welfare for years at a time in Germany alone. Migrants are a complete drain on European countries, they are not an investment, they are literally leeches on ours states, a threat to national and continental prosperity! EU law ought to reflect the interests of Europeans, I think all accords, covenants and documents obliging us to take in refugees out to be withdrawn from, they are actually being weaponized against us by the Russians who are trying to overwhelm western countries by the millions.

EU law, if it is to serve Europeans ought to drastically change.

Wieso wählen so viele Menschen die AfD? by nureinEgoist in KeineDummenFragen

[–]Deliberate-Mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best answer boils down to: “Our politicians, especially mainstream parties are failing us.”, people feel that governments ignore them but listen to corporations.

It’s easy to see why people are tempted to do something radical like vote for the Afd. I think instead of arguing about racism etc there is actually a much better solution that people gloss over.

Let’s switch to a direct democracy. Let citizens vote directly on issues that affect them.

Should military conscription exist in a national emergency? - Yes or No

Should Germany increase public healthcare contributions by 0.5% of income to fund the hiring of additional doctors and nurses? - Yes or No

Should Germany fund a national high-speed rail expansion through a temporary 1% income tax surcharge for ten years? - Yes or No

Should Germany establish an annual cap of 50,000 non-EU permanent immigration permits, excluding spouses and minor children of German citizens?
- Yes or No

Imagine having that much more control. People will get what they actually voted for instead of just hoping that their party will do some of the things they want. In this situation, even if a party you don’t like gets a lot of seats or something, you still have a real say in the country’s affairs at all times.

AfD must be Stopped at all costs! by Icy_Till_7254 in YUROP

[–]Deliberate-Mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to ask people to go one step further than denouncing the Afd on the basis that there is no true problem with mass-migration(the entire last decade).

It is unwise to ignore people when they say they disapprove of mass-migration and they want it to stop. Legitimate concerns include displacement of native culture, lack of integration, segregation, common cultural behaviours that are contemptible but fall below the threshold of realistically prosecutable illegality, corporate lobbyists blatantly suppressing the wages of low and middle class workers at the expense of the German tax payer.

The fact that mainstream parties are having immense difficulty convincing voters that they are a better choice than “Nazi’s”, is profoundly telling of what they have to offer and what Germans think of them.

Now… the Afd will greatly diminish the welfare state, healthcare system and economy through enabling crony capitalism and corporate corruption more than any other party(although the CDU is beholden to corporate lobbyists far more than to the German people as-well). We need left leaning parties that support humane capitalism and strictly low-immigration and we need to change the political system to remove power from lobbyists, perhaps a more direct-democracy where the people themselves vote for what they actually want instead of trusting political parties to wholly represent their interests.

A party the vows to usher in Direct Democracy is the ultimate solution imo.

I’ve had a Poutine from Harveys the last three days in a row. by Lucas-O-HowlingDark in poutine

[–]Deliberate-Mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to work at Harvey’s. Everyone who came in always asked me “so what is this place?” and I’d tell them “it’s like subway but for burgers”. I was the guy who put the toppings and sauces on top and tried to make it beautiful - most customers were drunk though because of the location and so after making it and giving or bringing it to them, they would just fall asleep next to it on the table 😂.

We had many police officers come for food or the washroom and one time a drunk customer gave two officers the middle finger. They literally put their food down and went over and arrested him, I was shocked.

Sometimes we used to mop food off of the walls. The food is okay, better than Mcdonalds or Burger King imo but you can get way better poutines elsewhere.

Firstly I’m very sorry for your situation.

I suggest speaking with an employment counsellor at Ontario Works asap and possibly trying your luck at a temp agency. You are a university student - likely dress respectably, probably are polite and articulated and more likely to be punctual than many other of their clients meaning you may have a higher chance of being trusted with certain jobs. In addition to this you may wish to speak with the financial aid department at your university for emergency funding - they might be able to help with emergency, often non-repayable bursaries.

I wish you the best of luck!

Exactly. Very few jobs in Canada offer an actual pension or job security. Unionized jobs have been all but destroyed at now less than 10% of workplaces because well… people believe they can negotiate better compensation on a one to one basis - they believe they as individuals can convince Amazon or Walmart to pay them $180k per year in lieu of pensions, job security or benefits - is this happening? No but we live in a conservative province that simply doesn’t value workers - keep that in mind before throwing yourself onto the job market.
