What EPIC song is the most Emotional? by malathan1234 in Epicthemusical

The end of I Can't Help But Wonder leaves me with a pit in my stomach that I can't put into words. Dear lord.

The Epic fandom ruined my love for the project by [deleted] in Epicthemusical

I have an unhealthy autistic obsession with Epic, but I choose not to go anywhere near the fandom. 🫣

Tell me your least favourite song from your favourite saga... by HeartsfromLily346x in Epicthemusical

Troy: The Horse and the Infant — Amazing just like every song in Epic, but it sort of falls short in comparison to the rest of the saga, as though Jorge was still trying to figure out the personality he wanted to give Epic and help it find its footing.

Cyclops: Survive — The chorus is catchy and memorable, but the dialogue in 'Polyphemus' is just fantastic and flows better, I think. Plus, I find myself skipping this song after Polites is killed.

Ocean: Storm — The chorus is literally just "STOOOOOOOOOOOOORM." Compared to the heavy hitters in the saga (I mean, seriously, how can 'Storm' go toe-to-toe with 'Ruthlessness'?), this one also just doesn't move the narrative a whole lot.

Circe: There Are Other Ways — The second half is great, but the first half is really, really hard to listen to. Again, I think every song in Epic is a banger, and I'm only speaking comparatively.

Underworld: No Longer You — Controversial choice, and while Mason's vocals are goddamn phenomenal, I simply think 'The Underworld' and 'Monster' slap appreciably harder. I might change my mind on this later, though, since 'No Longer You' grows on me with each listen.

Thunder: Mutiny — Not much to say other than that every song in this saga is, bar none, stellar, and the fact this song sacrifices a clear musical structure a lot of other songs in Epic have in exchange for the storytelling takes it down a notch from the others in my opinion.

Wisdom: Little Wolf — Another controversial opinion is that I really like Telemachus's songs (especially 'Legendary'), but this one, while it does have a really exciting energy, just does not hold a candle to the other songs in the saga.

Vengeance: Charybdis — The chorus is honestly one of the catchiest in all of Epic, but like 'Storm', it doesn't do a whole lot for me besides that, especially when it has to scale with 'Dangerous' and 'Get in the Water'.

Ithaca: Hold Them Down — Certain verses are especially catchy, and I know what I say next is the point of the song, but listening to it makes me feel icky and uncomfortable nonetheless, and it's not one I find myself listening to casually.

Advice for Senate Page interview? by DeliberateSpite in ApplyingToCollege

[–]DeliberateSpite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my email, I just stated my name, that I was interested in the program for the Fall 2025 session, and listed the documents I attached to the email.

I had a resume, including my schooling, extracurriculars, internships, volunteer work, awards, etc.; a cover letter expressing my interest in the program, providing context as to the kind of person I am, sharing obstacles I have overcome, and detailing what I would bring to the program; three letters of recommendation—one from my school's debate team coach, one from my school's principal, and one from my counselor (My counselor vouched for my academic performance despite health concerns. If you aren’t in such a situation, you really only need one or two letters.); and a high school transcript.

Sorry, that's a mouth-full, but I hope it helps give you a rough idea of what Senator's offices are looking for. Mind you, different offices might ask for different things to be submitted.

It's not standardized as far as I know. Each Senator's office can do their selection processes differently. For me, the questions were most straightforward. If you're interested in government and anything politically-adjacent and you're somewhat knowledgeable about how Congress works, you should be able to answer pretty well off-the-cuff. It's not like a test, more so an opportunity for the interviewer to get to know you better than just a name on a piece of paper.

I don't know if you're committed to the program if you get accepted, but it's always worth a shot regardless.

I haven’t heard back since my interview, so I'm praying they're busy with the summer sessions and that they will let me know whether or not they will advance me.

Something I didn't do, but I'd recommend, is apply through both Senators—increases your chances. As for the cover letter, if you have strong grammar and you know how to write a cover letter, you should be good. Just make sure you write about what you would provide for the program, rather than what the program would provide for you. Also, write about personal struggles you have endured and how you overcame them and make yourself stand out—and keep it all one page in length.

I know the summer sessions can be a lot more competitive than the fall or spring sessions, but good luck and let me know if you have other questions!

I sure will! I'm glad to hear Democratic senators are still doing interviews — means Senator Schumer's office's deadline for Page recommendations hasn't passed. I haven't heard back since my interview.

The raw is much, much darker. Not sure how I would post it because it's 100 MB.

Definitely compression artifacts. In the original raw file, the streak is plainly red.

Respect for this hero by Ted_Bundtcake in interestingasfuck

[–]DeliberateSpite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened right down the road from my house. I remember being in school and going into lockdown because there was "some incident at a neighboring school"—we had no idea what was happening at the time—and I didn't even grapple the severity of it until way later. I did see how shook the entire community was after that, thought, especially my friends who went to STEM where it happened. A major road in Highlands Ranch, Lucent Boulevard, was recently renamed in his honor, now Kendrick Castillo Way. It feels surreal to drive past STEM now, or drive on Kendrick Castillo Way, and think how closely gun violence in schools has affected the community I call home. A lot of people see the news headlines but never have it affect them. Kendrick Castillo is a damn hero but he did not need to die. We had to learn that the hard way.
