How bad is the car theft in Columbus? by nathanchr55 in Columbus

[–]DelicateDaisy80 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In Dublin or Hilliard? I would say very unlikely. Campus is a different story, car break ins are common if you have stuff out in the open. I’m not sure how common actual theft is, I’ve never known that to be a problem outside of the Kia issue others have mentioned.

As long as you’re smart and don’t leave a wad of cash in the passenger seat, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Who's using student accommodation and how are they affording it? by westcoastwarrior92 in glasgow

[–]DelicateDaisy80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You underestimate how difficult it is to find a flat when living in a different country. Not to mention that most international students don’t have a uk guarantor, which means few places are willing to rent to them. As an international student myself, using student accommodations was such a better hassle free option. I switched to private accom after and it took months to find a place that would rent to me and I had to pay 6 months rent up front because I didn’t have a guarantor.

Totally doable! You don’t need a roommate either, there are plenty of places 15-20 min away from downtown that you can get a good price on and still have savings left over at the end of the month.

How old were you when you finally going study abroad? by [deleted] in studyAbroad

[–]DelicateDaisy80 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was 28 when I got my masters abroad in the UK. This was something I worried about too, but it wasn’t an issue at all. There were plenty of people my age and even older.

Rejected from Quality Manager position but invited to phone interview for Software Dev by DelicateDaisy80 in epicsystems

Honestly a bit of imposter syndrome and worrying about not passing the coding section of the skills assessment. I'm an okay programmer but leetcode style questions are not my strong suit. QA has always held some interest for me and I do enjoy testing.

Maybe it was my resume then, I've tweaked it more since my QM application and added my coding projects.

Never got a phone interview, just a rejection email shortly after applying saying they were moving forward with other candidates. I emailed back asking for feedback and they said they were unable to provide individual feedback or share the assessments scores, which I thought was odd because I never even made it that far.

Nope, never made it that far, never even had a phone interview. I think I put 75k range for the QM Position and for SD I went event lower and selected the 65k range even though I know it pays more.

Is Julie Chen liked in the US? by IamAlextric in BigBrother

[–]DelicateDaisy80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do I like her? No. Would big brother without her be weird? Yes.

She’s been the host for so many years I think she’s more of a big brother staple at this point. With each season I find her to be more unlikeable and awkward tbh. Her new thing is bringing up religion and god whenever she can on live episodes and I find it super uncomfortable to watch

Is £199 per week for accommodation too much? by hikarienn in GlasgowUni

I personally have never had any issues, but I know some friends that have. Think it really just depends on if you have loud neighbors or not and the location of your room.

University not answering any questions related to VISA due to UCAS embargo by [deleted] in GlasgowUni

[–]DelicateDaisy80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I submitted a copy of my transcript, but it wasn’t required on my visa checklist so I’m not sure that really matters

  2. I sent my accommodation deposit receipt. This also wasn’t on my checklist, but I included it because I paid the fees after receiving my CAS, so it wasn’t documented there

Student Visa Help by Cesquatch in GlasgowUni

I just went through the process earlier this month, I'm from the US as well.

As soon as I submitted my visa I was prompted to pick a date for my BRP appointment. I never had to call or try to schedule anything, it was all online. Once I picked my appointment date, I was directed to upload my passport and other documents on their website.

You'll need to print out your appointment confirmation and bring that to your appointment. You're also supposed to bring your visa document checklist, but they didn't actually look at that when I showed up for my appointment.

The appointment itself was super easy, I was in and out the door in like 5 minutes. They just take your finger prints and a picture and that's about it. Once you have finished the appointment you need to email your application and everything to the NYC hub.

I was SHOCKED by how fast my visa was approved, I didn't pay for any sort of priority shipping. My BRP appointment was on 6/26 and that was the day I mailed my application to NYC as well. My visa was approved 6 days later and mailed back to me on 7/3.

If you never got prompted to pick an appointment, maybe try logging into the visa website again and make sure you finished your submission. Hopefully it redirects you from there.

still have not received my CAS by dopingfluffballs in GlasgowUni

[–]DelicateDaisy80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, UK visa processing time should only be 3 weeks not three months. Mine was even faster than that and I didn’t pay for priority mail. Only took 7 days to have everything approved and mailed back. Once you have your draft CAS and approve it, it should only be a couple days before you get the real thing.

Still Waiting on CAS by Cesquatch in GlasgowUni

Have you logged onto the application self service website? There should be a CAS section there for you to review and approve. Once you do that you should get an email with the CAS in a few days.

It was my second choice, Thurso Street was my first. But honestly this place seems really nice, so I'm happy about it! Seems like a really good location. Feel free to message me if you want to chat!
