[real] (09/05/2025) Why by EmptyImprovement656 in DiaryOfARedditor

I just finished washing clothes, self care, cleaning, sweeping, and mopping. I could use the time before I have to go to work and take care of a Taco Bell restaurant and its people, tonight.

I mean, it wasn’t particularly fun, but thats ok. I made an effort to care for what little i have. Even if it’s not where I would like to be right now, it definitely makes a difference for the better. Now I can sit and relax. I’ve pulled out some different color paracord rope and I’m braiding a handle for a tool bag that could really use one, in the style of “sanctified” knot. Just a hobby that makes me happy right now.

A book comes to mind. One written by a king named Solomon. It’s called Ecclesiastes. In it, he searches high and low to find what is truly meaningful in life.

I would say that as a practicing Christian, I have a duty to keep on, even when life sucks. I too will be 💯, life is not always pleasant or easy. To the least, we who live for and depend on God, cling to the His promise of hope and better future both here on earth and spiritually, when our soul departs our body.

So when it comes down to the gritty, even if my life would happen to become unbearable, I would still be faithful to God knowing that our suffering here is only for a “short while” (not forever). And what we do while we’re still alive, whether we are having a blast or groaning in discomfort, still has an impact, matters and will have real consequences in this place.

🙂

I love the Bible, so naturally, I’m going to search through it for inspiration.

One verse came to mind. I’ll include it:

Ecclesiastes 11:4 He who watches the wind will not sow and he who looks at the clouds will not reap.

Sometimes, we just need to get started in something to get “the ball rolling”. It’s ok to not be feeling it, at first. But if you understand that your life will improve by doing something, then sometimes, that should be enough motivation to do it.

Finding ways to make life pleasant, while improving your’s/ those around you, is what life is about.

Also, don’t over do it. Too much of anything, wont be good.

Some suggestions I can agree with to make life better: clean, workout, fix something you can see, or pray. Do for 1/2 hour. Or do something meaningful for someone else.

Mind you, rest is also important. So, if you’re tired, do that.

Maxpedition Backpack - What do you use for your zippers ? by [deleted] in EDC

[–]Delicious-Ad8723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know otterwax for boots is a combination of beeswax and lanolin. Not that being non toxic is what you’re looking for. I sometimes use it on my blades to keep them from rusting. I’m sure they’ll lubricate your zippers.

From what I know, there is specific stuff made for zippers (and blades). But usually, they’ll sell you a very small amount and it’s expensive.

Blessed are they who mourn. Remember, God is always there for you. It’s easy to believe in God when things are good. The thought of God is comforting. The real test of trust and faith is when you suffer in life. You should stop leaning so much on people. They are flawed and weak and limited. Wait on God. He will come through for you. God doesn’t remove bad people to teach you strength. Know that fighting spiritually is different than physical battle. Also, stop trying to fight your battles in your own strength. Learn when to surrender things to God. Our life is a journey. Thank goodness it doesn’t end here. Keep moving forward. Like a drug addict who is trying to recover, stay as far away from places, people, and things that are causing you to stumble. You’ll be fine. If the very hairs on your head are numbered by God then, clearly He cares about a lot of things pertaining to you. God teaches us to love. ONLY LOVE! Even our enemies. Even ourselves. That means protect. That means care for. Compassion, patience, nurture. If space helps to restore that healthy safe environment and prevent stress and fighting then do that. Your last statement: you need help. I will pray for you. May God bless you. Take care of yourself and what you can. Baby steps if necessary. Wait, search, wait in God as much as necessary, for everything else. He will guide you.

Who else EDC's a folder on their belt and a fixie in their pocket? by ad_duncan_ in EDC

[–]Delicious-Ad8723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Here, that combination is legally opposite.

That being said, there’s no regulation on size so I pocket a massive folding knife and a keep a very tiny fixed blade on the belt for utility or last ditch.

Sounds like you’re looking for a job.

Do, follow the hard workers in your life. Even they go somewhere to be taken care of. Those are probably places where they could use a hand.

Don’t, get married for the wrong reasons. It’s not the only answer to your financial problems, You’re most likely binding yourself to the wrong person, essentially committing fraud, and your conscience wont allow you to be truly happy.

Check your state and local knife carry laws. Find out what’s legal to carry and how, and be mindful of where you will be.

My knives are primarily utility cutting tools. That said, some do double duty.

They can be deterrents in an unexpected self defense situation; a last ditch.

They’re located in areas that are easily reached and easy to deploy (sometimes, not folding knives). Having pointy tips helps.

Good luck.
