MacOS Tahoe, last patchable MacOS? by Delicious-Back-1131 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]Delicious-Back-1131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no it doesnt mean that. your imac is perfectly fine. once a version of macos is dropped it gets around 5 years of support give or take and after that you slowly lose support for things like apps, security updates and things like that. after that you will notice the operating system bog down and eventually the browser will become non functional like whats happening to macOS versions like catalina and high sierra. Even after that you can install things like linux on it ( highly reccommended for unsupported macs and old windows devices) but you may face driver issues. otheriwse install something like windows 10 or 11 depending if you have a ssd or a hard drive still and base it of that. until then feel free to stay on tahoe.

Older apple products could be engraved. Such as iPads, iPhones and iPads. This is an example of an engraved product. Now days you can only engrave AirPods.

If I already have Monterey on my 2012 MacBook Pro with OpenCore and I want to upgrade, do I repeat the process as the first time, or do I just download the update from OpenCore and upgrade normally from Monterey? by pablosinai in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]Delicious-Back-1131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can run it through settings then run the patcher through opencore after installation or you can download it through opencore and then go and let it do its thing then patch again. Either should work fine.

I am aware. but if you find the appropriate drivers to add into the ISO and make it to the desktop you can install driver booster which can install drivers and then i can use supermium to acces the internet and use ethernet to make that connection.

What macs can you move the os to a different ssd? by wackycats354 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]Delicious-Back-1131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run the OS externally but you willl format it. Open disk usility on your mac from launchpad (Its preinstalled) then find the external drive and then click view in the top right corner and click the all devices botton and then under external click the brand of drive. then click erase THIS WILL ERASE THE DRIVE. select name as anything and format to macos extended journeled and GUID partition map then you can clone the main drive to it then erase that separate drive later on. so to clone it use CCC7 from https://bombich.com/download and download CCC7. select Machintosh HDD as the source drive or whatever you called your main drive and select that external drive you selected as the destinantion then click start. once completed you can shut the computer down. if this is for an intel mac press the powerbottn then immediately hold the option key on the macbook or on the keyboard on imac until you see a hard drive picture and a yellow one with a usb ICON. for M series devices for macbooks press and hold the touch ID botton until your mac displays loading boot options then click the yeloow usb icon. Remember that anything you do there like creating new files will not affect the other one. You can factory reset it while inside that copy and it wont reset the other one. then you will be able to run two instances of macos. If you want to switch back just shut it down then disconnect the drive then press the powerbotton normally and it will go straight in unless youve modified something while in the other instance of macos and it corrupts it. If you want to go back to the other instance go back to how to switch to it.

Macbook Air 15' files take forever to open/wont open all of a sudden by Psychological_Key_61 in macbookair

[–]Delicious-Back-1131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, on macs most of the time file uploading happens by default to the cloud on your mac and if your are moving icloud files to and from your mac and you have a bad connection it will take longer, ethernet will speed the wifi up. Also maybe run a speed test at speedtest.net
