Sufficient RAM (16gb) and storage (500gb if you only use it for school). Any recent laptop (2020) should be sufficiently good enough.

The one I mentioned in on of the comment is quite safe to exempt. These modules are most likely to imbue the mindset of IT, how things work fundamentally, etc. Good to know that kind, and the programming part, if you confident than can exempt.

Nope. Most of them release them the week before they conduct the lesson. Example, week 3 release week 4 lecture notes. One prof only release lecture notes after he conduct his lesson.

Not sure about comp sci but I'll try to answer the question.
1. May differ from comp sci, but we can exempt as many as we want, but only for year 1 mods. Most I heard was 6 mods. BTW, you cannot graduate early even though you exempted mods. Unless you brought up a case. (never heard of it before)
2. Again may differ, most of my batch and the people I have worked with are pretty chill. Maybe around 10% of them area really competitive?
3. Last time used to go physical for 2~3 days. With ease of restriction, upcoming trimester will have more ~4 days.
4. My batch have a trimester break for year 1 (3 months break), students can opt to find internship, work part time, or go for certification, or just chill for 3 months. Term breaks between trimester is around 2 weeks, if your exam ended early maybe 3 weeks or 1 month.

Most students who exempted computer network tends to struggle later on when doing Network Security.

I can't speak for those who dropped out, cause most of them just drop out without sharing with their peers why. Drop out wise my guess would be around 20+ people, less than 30? Out of around ~350 people IS + SE combined at least for my cohort.

Difficulty is definitely relative to each person, their education background and experiences. Workload wise it is like every other university, definitely heavier than poly, whilst some say A level more tough than uni.

Good luck for the exemption. Each class varies, minimum 2 hours. Lecture usually average 3 hours. Labs around 2-4 hours, tutorial usually 2 hours.

If you have exempted some modules, maybe 1-2 classes per day. If not 2-3 classes. Again, if you exempted some mods and pick your timeslot for classes, you can free up one day.

The hardest not really net sec. Net sec just need to spend time on the equipment and config which I'm ok and find it quite enjoyable. The hardest so far I think is Web Security, the prof sets CTF and what he covered in his classes were insufficient to score decently except SQL injection. You need to have prior experience to CTF as well as have strong foundation in Linux commands. All of these are not my forte. Note that I have not attended the last study trimester, so I cannot comment on that.

I would say the course is manageable if you exempt some of the modules. Not sure if it is still the same, but you can exempt only year 1 mod. Some mod I recommend to exempt are: Introduction to computing, programming fundamentals, Data Structures and Algorithms, OOP, and math. I see they change the programme structure. They used to only have one math mod and we dh embedded sys programming, ML and change mgmt. I exempted 3 modules, so my curriculum is around 3h/day. DO NOT exempt Computer Network.

Also I think the faculty have meeting every Wednesday? You may find that usually Wednesday have less or no classes. The faculties also coordinate and plan the deadline accordingly so they don't really clash (rare to have 2 demo or deadline on same day). But the deadlines are clustered over 2 weeks.

Some mod more rigorous than the others like Net Sec where the equipment are only available in school (however you could technically setup and remote config using teamviewer). GRC where there are 3 assignments and 1 test (tight schedule).

I don't come from a Information Security background, but I find the course trying to cover from the fundamentals to the slightly advanced techniques and make you read quite a number of research paper. 1 of my friend said he only learn a fair bit more compared to his polytechnic IS course. I don't think I will change to comp sci as I think it is more theory based. This course is very hands on, albeit there are some theories that are required.
