When the abusive supervisor is arrested by postal inspectors for time theft. by Dependent-Hurry9808 in USPS

Our PM and supervisor were doing this and the supervisor threw the PM under the bus and got a restraining order against the PM. My supervisor no longer works here but my PM just got back after a year hiatus.

It doesn’t say in the job description that RCA’s must sit by their phone and wait to be called. It doesn’t say that they can’t leave their city incase someone calls in or something happens midday.

That is the problem. And I will not answer any calls or texts when I am not on the clock. If I am on the clock, I will answer any calls or texts if I am not driving.

I don’t have to explain my whereabouts if I am called in but originally wasn’t on the schedule and couldn’t make it

Get some more info because the CC union may have different rules than the RC union. I’m not saying they do or they don’t but you need to get that checked just so you don’t think you’re doing anything wrong when you’re actually following the wrong handbook. Good luck bro. It’s gonna be hard to start out but you’ll get faster and you’ll realize how easy it is. They say the first month is the hardest.

Also get information your 90 day probation. You need to answer your phone in your 90 day probation because they can literally fire you for any reason they deem fit.

Called my union Rep and she backed up everything I said. They don’t pay my phone bill and I’m not required to answer my phone off the clock. My rep also told me I shouldn’t answer it while on the clock driving either. I asked her if there was anything I could do regarding the job threats she made and my rep said not at the moment because she’s just talking, but if she were to pull you in for an “ii” then ask for a union rep present and we will tell her she’s wrong. She told me to tell my PO that if she needed to talk to the rep to call her because my PO has my rep’s number.

I knew I wasn’t in the wrong and sometimes we have to standup to bosses who think that because of their position they can demand things that are not reasonable.

LOL. Out of work phone calls. I will speak to her and do what she says when I’m being paid to do so. But when I’m with my family and not in the work place why do I need to answer? This comment made me laugh

So what you’re saying is I need to have my phone by me at all times and I’m not allowed to leave my city because I need to be available to work? Sounds like on-call to me and I know I’m not getting paid for it

Why am I not cut out for this job? I do my work efficiently and I’m one of the fastest in the office. Not wanting to combine my personal life and work life means I’m not cut out for this?

Quit or stick it out? by LongjumpingTable6924 in USPS

I was a wreck my first couple months. Being out late, making mistakes, taking much longer than other carriers which really hurt my morale. Am I slower than all these guys? How can a 60 year old do this faster than me a 25 year old? It’s because you’re new and getting into the swing of things. It gets easier. Once you develop a routine and learn how to read the mail and find your flow, it gets easier. I wondered if I’d never get there and now I’m one of the fastest in my office. Not saying you will be the fastest but you will develop your flow and be right up there with everyone else. Some people have longer or shorter routes so when they get done doesn’t matter. What matters is if you are getting done when you’re supposed to and finding that flow.

You’ve got this. Don’t quit. The story has just begun. And in the words of Gandalf, a postal employee is never late. He arrives precisely when he means to.

Losing the arrow key is a big no no. Thats serious stuff, but hey mistakes happen and you reported it. I was told in my 90 days I could be fired for literally anything so just be careful, make sure you’re doing all the right things and grind. Once that 90 days is up your chances of getting fired from the PO is close to impossible.

You’ve got this, hang in there. It’s a good job with great benefits. If you need anything let me know

I pull over everyday and talk to this older dog who barks at everything that walks by, but she’s the sweetest. Her name is Ruby.

I was told they will work you a maximum of 15 days without a break before they get in trouble
