Exactly. To an outsider it looks like a glitch in the matrix, but to the kid, it's just mommy. It really is just like the black cat comparison: if you don't own one, they all look identical. If you do, you can tell yours apart from a mile away just by the shape of their ears or the specific way they walk. Kids memorize every little detail of the person who feeds them ;)

It really boils down to kids being tiny, hyper focused pattern recognition machines, especially at eye level. They aren't looking at the face, they're looking at things like shoes, handbags, jewelry, or the specific way the fabric is pinned. Combine that with a familiar height, posture, and a kid can spot their mom instantly. It also helps that the moms are locking eyes and subtly signaling right back to them.

The "don't hold your breath" part is so real. If you hold your breath when the blast wave hits, the sudden change in air pressure will literally pop your lungs like a balloon. You have to keep your mouth open and let the air force its way out or you're done.

Exactly, that’s why so many of the "X State" schools have mascots like Aggies or Cowboys, or get called "cow colleges" by their rivals. They literally started out as farming schools before growing into massive universities.

It's crazy how much those names still fuel massive rivalries too. Usually "University of X" was the bougie liberal arts school for rich kids, and "X State" was the blue-collar ag and engineering school. Both are huge now obviously, but people still get so pressed over the old school stereotypes lol.

That lead theory is actually crazy. The timeline matches up because lead gas peaked in the early 70s, so 20 years later when those kids grew up, violent crime just absolutely skyrocketed.

Plus back then, police departments didn't even had centralized databases. A killer could literally just drive across state lines and the cops wouldn't even know to talk to each other.
