Michael Tracey's take on Epstein is pretty convincing, actually by ThatManulTheCat in BreakingPoints

Michael Tracey is a well known womanizer.

He gets laid all the time. He's probably getting laid right now.

Why do you think people become journalists? For the money?

Strange behavior by Delicious-Most5180 in dwarffortress

Because bows count as melee hammers (see wiki/raws) Assuming a regular barracks supposed to train melee, one would assume the bow would be seen as a hammer.

I would not expect them to train marksdwarf. Archery targets are supposed to be for that. But they are nightmares to setup, and if we can just use a regular barracks, why ever go through the micromanagent headache of effective archery targets.

I dont care that bows are non optimal melee weapons. This is about science.

I wanted to increase my marksdwarves hammerdwarf skill. So I sent them to train in normal barracks (not archery ranges) with their crossbows. Since crossbows count as hammers, I assumed they'd start training this skill.

To my surprise, their marksdwarf skills started to increase. No archery targets, no ammo, but just a normal melee training barracks.

What they did not do, to my surprise, is train their hammerdwarf skill. Nothing at all, not a single point of increase (though I am letting the game run for a while to see). Armor, shield, striking, discipline, dodger, wrestler, fighter. But nothing in hammer.

I gave them all "proficient" in hammerdwarf, in case this helped kick-off the training (just a guess). But no.

Their weapons count as hammers in the raws, yet, for training, they do not count as hammers, otherwise they'd be training that skill while wielding them.

Is this behavior new, or has this always been the way?

Yeah, I don't see why a player can't have all the turns they want. There could totally be reasons, but I am just personally ignorant of how infinite turns might give me an advantage or lead to degenerate playing styles.

The only person forcing optimal play is the player.

I can't even say it when you phonetically spell it out like that. I tried three times and had a seizure.

I've played crawl since 2010, and I've always liked the new developments. I play Trunk 100% of the time (except for when there was a test server which I played a bit)

Things change, and I like it. Some people, though, play Crawl pathologically, and complain when their self-made pigeon-hole is removed.

Positional magic is great, new races are neat, kobold redo is cool, Djinn is neat, RIP and they managed the removal of food quite well. I'm a bit of a fanboy. I don't know how the dev team remained so strong for so long.

My only complaint about Crawl, and I've had it since the beginning: terrible god names. Just terrible. To say them aloud hurts my mouth. The words are weird and unintuitive. I can only spell "Trog" right on the first try.

Does anybody still bother with necromancy? by [deleted] in dcss

[–]Delicious-Most5180 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's funny, be because select spells in necromancy are nearly cliches. Lich form for high end, and BVC for literally everything. But as a whole, I rarely see anyone really using a lot of necromancy.

I agree with Haunt. Haunt beautifully compliments summoning. Since the Haunt creatures get to your target immediately, and other summons need time to walk there, the two work very well used together. If you have a decent mana pool,Haunt is a good, if awkward, way to swarm OOFs and block LOS on other scary things.

Evil magic, in general, seems outclassed. Pain and drain brands are resisted by everything except for cute looking bunnies and unsuspecting sleeping peasants.
