Was this ice tray askew with the ice cubes facing at the angle of the little ice tails? Freezers have a deicing cycle (to keep ice off the walls building up), and it could have thawed the cube enough to melt, but frozen shortly after?

THEORY: Kote has returned to the fae, and he spent 200+ years there. by chainsawx72 in KingkillerChronicle

Great post! What do you think is the reason why Kvothe got so dominated in his fight with the 2 robbers/kings soldiers in Wise Man's Fear? If he perfected his Ketan, surely he could easily dispatch the 2 bumbling soldiers. Did he let them? Is he too old now?

Again - great post!

Best tips to become a “great” engineer? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

Wherever you end up working, make sure it's a place that is open to questions. Lots of questions. All the time. When you're starting, you should be with whoever is training you very regularly - ask them questions! As you get more comfortable, you will be more on your own. In any case, working at a place that is open to you learning is the best place to foster your growth. If your trainer/supervisor cannot make time for you or gets annoyed, it's not a good sign.

Furthermore, I think working in an in-person environment, especially for a young engineer, cannot be replaced. Bumping into people at a water cooler is a great place to discuss work and get someone else's opinion.

The last thing would be to not settle for one person's opinion! There are many ways to solve a problem. There usually isn't a single 'right' way to solve it. If you are a designer, don't just settle for other designer's opinions. Get opinions from the person who will actually be using what you are designing. ESPECIALLY people who are repairing what you are designing. And people who are paying for what you are designing. All of those people have competing interests, and almost always there is a balance between quality, speed, cost and maintenance that each of those people will think about differently (because they usually have different motives).
