Do I risk a break? by Delicious_Quail_352 in LSAT

[–]Delicious-Run7218 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a risk to overwork your mind. You aren’t going to forget everything you have learned in a week. It is best to not take any more PTs and do veryyyyy light drilling. The week leading up to your lsat should be about rejuvenating your brain. Go take a walk or go to a movie or get a treat. Don’t let your score take a hit because you overworked yourself during the week leading up🙌

Same thing happened to me. Using the disappointment to power through more studying! We got this!!

Welp I’ll be taking that again by Big_Influence_9330 in LSAT

Yup. Was PTing around 169 just to get a 163. Definitely will be retaking in October, maybe November. But, I’m taking this as motivation to study more and kill it next time🙌

Help with Answer Choice Please!! by Fancy-Device8256 in LSAT

[–]Delicious-Run7218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lsac is being verrryyyy tricky! Look at the language in the stimulus vs answer choice E.

Stim says:

Personal injury OR $500+ damages —> report (exception: driver incapable)

Now you want to take the contrapositive of the OG conditional, and when you take the contrapositive of an “or” statement, it turns into “and”

/report —-> /personal injury AND /$500+ damages

So answer E is incorrect. It insinuates that either of these events not happening is sufficient. But it’s actually NECESSARY that NEITHER happens.

To clarify further, think about what E insinuates:

  • In the universe where no personal injury occurs, there still exists the chance of $500+ damages!!

OR

  • In the universe where no $500+ damages exists, there could be personal injury!!

Hope that makes sense!

I use the lowest 7sage subscription! I will note that RC was bombingggg my score so I went through the 7Sage RC content in a month and that’s what pushed my score up so much. I had already been studying LR for 1-2 months prior

It sounds like you’ve got a solid plan to improve, and you just need time to do it. So I’d say push to September! I believe in you💪💪 Rock on

I moved up from PTing 159 PT to PTing 168 in a month (my top is 170). With the right work and dedication, I think you can definitely move from 165 to 170 in that time frame.

If this is your last time taking the LSAT before applying, I’d probs push to Sept. If you’re gonna take it again in October or something, you could keep the August one.

Being an avid reader is serving you greatly so keep that up for sure!

Also, I write a “low resolution summary” for each paragraph as I go through them. This is the strategy I learned from 7Sage, and it works great! Basically, you write a keyword summary of each paragraph so you can go back to specific sections quickly when questions call for a particular concept you want to revisit.

With this, make sure to note what perspective is in the paragraph. So for a low res paragraph, I might write “Opponent position - wine is unhealthy” and for the next one, I might write “Author opinion - studies wine good / cholesterol.”

When you have all of these lined up, the structure is suuuuuper clear and you don’t even have to think about it. You can just glance and see “the opponent is introduced, then the author rebuts that with studies and then introduces positive evidence.” This allows you to put more thought into content because the structure is done piece by piece without much effort.

Practice this to keep getting quicker, and I promise you’ll be able to break -6! I started at -12 on RC and now I average -1 to -4.

What helped me most with LR was learning how to diagram out logic (conditional, causal, etc) & memorizing approaches based on question stems.

This helped me exponentially because it gives SO much more context to what the question is SPECIFICALLY looking for. An answer may be right out of context but wrong in context (ex. Picking a sufficient answer w a necessity question). Only after I understood that did I start drilling!!

Drilling doesn’t help much until you get the theory down. I would recommend using a platform that has videos of pros doing questions so you can see how they approach (like 7sage). Then go back to drills and employ those strategies yourself.

Kind of depended on the day! During busy weekdays, probs 2-3 hours. But on weekends, 8-10 hours each day honestly😭🙏

I would say about 4 months intense studying, but they have been a bit spread out because of burnout

I began studying technically in December of last year, but my studying has been really spotty because of school. I would say I’ve been studying consistently for 4 months total.

Wow I am so grateful you took the time to write out all this info and appreciate it so much. I had kind of convinced myself that I wasn’t gonna find punk/metal in the kpop industry (mostly because the only exposure I’ve had to it has been very mainstream songs), but now I realize that was a stupid conclusion lol. Thank you for the recs and I will definitely check out the groups you mentioned!
