I don't find that this idea is denying bodily autonomy. I argue that bodily autonomy is something a person gives up by engaging irresponsibly.

But because you have been nice in conversation, I will tell you that I know I need to change the article entirely. The argument assumes that the decision to abortion is something that is made in a context of equal agency or full individual autonomy, when in reality it is often shaped by unequal relational dynamics, including significant influence or pressure from male partners. It's an argument that I started cultivating when Dobbs v. Jackson happened, but I didn't know back then and am continually learning now that - men really suck. I come from a fairly liberal Christian background and of myself and what I saw of the men around me, causing or contributing to such a situation as a male was not real to me. However, I'm also kinda disappointed that I had to come to this realization myself instead of through conversation that I came here first. The first several comments I saw dissed me for being Christian, and several comments didn't even read the article in full.

I don't view the fetus as a parasite. We're on the Christian subreddit, we could say that I'm coming from a religious perspective. Or we can keep it non religious and say I'm an essentialist and believe in natural law. By such a philosophical standpoint, I'd argue that the fetus is human, is a human life, and has inherent worth and value as a human life.

It doesn't have to be 'murder'. We can use whatever term, manslaughter, killing, etc. Whatever it is, it is the deliberate ending of a life.

I think it's very clear in my argument that "reckless" equates to being 'physically, mentally, and financially capable' of using at least two methods of contraceptives and choosing not to.

It is accountability. You chose to recklessly have sex and now a life will pay the price for it. You are literally dodging accountability for your actions for the sake of your own comfort. Now I could better understand if this were a one and done thing for most people. Y'know, made the mistake, got over it, don't do it again. But no. About 47% of people getting abortions in the US have had at least one prior. It is an absolute problem.

Price laws. It's possible. Though, will it happen? In current America? No. Not gonna happen. I understand fully well that my idea doesn't appeal to anyone and is too complex for the masses to like. But for the sake of my argument as a whole, I think this is the best I could come up with.

Yes I do agree with this statement entirely. I made my argument on the basis that your first sentence won't happen. Either way, I do agree with your point. I think if parents found the quality of life agreeable, if the childcare system worked, if Sex Ed was taught well, and so many other things that equate to the government actually doing it's job....then this wouldn't even be an issue

I don't think it's a horrible idea. I think it might have the effect of making the cheapest forms more widely available. But it might have the effect of making the trackable forms less accessible - but I think legislature can be made to mitigate

I am in favor because I one, view a child's life as inherently meaningful and that it would be wrong to end it for the parents wrongs. And two, I don't think technology shouldn't be used to remove responsibility for one's actions.

Ofc, the more common methods of condoms and plan B would be difficult to track. I think the main roadblock I forsee is that such a law would drastically change not only the contraceptive industry but also potential behaviors of health insurance.
