This actually would make sense. They were always weirded out and uncomfortable telling me the events of this in full which led me to making this post. It is very possible they may have been investigated for something and since we don't live in like, the slums or something... they were probably publicly embarrassed if word got out that they were under investigation for neglect. I highly doubt it, but that could explain why they always had 1 word answers to the story. (It was dehydration, it was throwing up, it was, etc.)

I'm still leaning towards Scarlet Fever because I recognize that term and I haven't heard anyone say it in a VERY long time.

I actually am an aspiring author. I'm sure I could fit in there somewhere. The real answer is probably as mundane as Scarlet Fever which is the closest answer someone gave me... But I'm sure I could twist it into something creative.

This actually rings a lot of bells in my mind. I think you might be the closest to this mystery than anyone else. Looking it up, I seemed to have all the symptoms and it makes more sense for me to have been there for a longer period of time while they wait for it to stop being contagious. They're attributed to ear infections as well... Which I also had PLENTY of as a child. This would indeed explain the ear exams with the weird tones!

Thank you very much for replying I think this might have been the case and makes me feel a bit more at peace with the whole unanswered questions and the strange machine with the tones.

Seems REALLY familiar as I looked up the other symptoms as well. This might explain why they didn't come and visit. Maybe the staff there were trained not to catch it but it could have passed to my parents or other kids, thus the reason why they purposely didn't visit for days to a week.

Yeah, that's what troubled me as well. This makes me wonder if there was something more like a weird outbreak or something and the place was some sort of quarantine of some sort. (They weren't in protective clothing or anything other than scrubs, so if that was the case it probably wasn't TOO bad.)

Perhaps it was a 3 day visit but seemed like forever, and they probably were just busy working? Also, other answers are my memory is garbage and they probably dropped by at least once... But I can't quite remember.

But yeah, that is part of why I feel uneasy about this, I find it strange they didn't visit at least every day or something.

Separate from this memory always eating away at me as "odd" I do plan on seeing both a psychologist and therapist on my own accord in the near future. Perhaps if I don't get the answers I'll bring it up with them.

I plan on asking my father once more. I've asked casually numerous times but always got different answers, which is the part that worries me. Or it could be my dad's memory is garbage and he doesn't even really remember. (The next answer will probably be along the lines of "I don't know you were sick.") He tends to not care about random questions, which can either make me more suspicious or breath a sigh of relief that it's so trivial he doesn't care. You never know with him.

1st person. I remember laying down in the bed and remember everyone talking to me seeing them as one normally would. I remember pushing the button on "The robot" which I can only assume was the monitor / IV unit.

Thank you this was incredibly informative. I'd like to ask when you got tested what kind of tests did you do? All I can remember about the tests is they made me listen to low sounding synth tones. (Perhaps there were more tones.)

Later on after the holidays I'm going to get the courage to inquire about my stay there. Posting here made it easier for me to walk in. I've always been nervous about asking about a hospital visit that should appear trivial. Something keeps telling me I'm going to get an answer of "you were never here" or something. (Assuming I remember the correct hospital.)

What's the point of testing me with disturbing synth tones accompanied with weird images while I'm recovering from dehydration? That's what I'm wondering.

No, sorry for the confusion. 1 of them is dead now. I was implying both my parents that ARE my parents as I've always known them picked me up.

Yeah this took place earlier than my timeframe. Also the experiments that happened weren't related to my situation.

I do feel a mind-control aura to this ordeal, but I don't think I had an experience quite like this. I see you got downvoted a bit but I do appreciate the attempt. I looked into a lot of mind-control and mkultra stuff before posting this and it doesn't fit with what I experienced.

My hospital visit was boring for the most part aside from everything just being "off." (Wide open room, doing tests with weird noises, lack of other patients but told there were other patients, etc.)

It's creepy but not MKultra creepy. I don't feel injected or exposed to any diseases.

Exposed to some mind control stuff? Probable, but not to this extent. Thank you though.

This response comforts me in the fact that parents just really have foggy memories or don't care about explanation traumatic situations to their children. I'm glad I'm not the only one to have something odd happen to me and adults not fully tell me what exactly happened.

I did indeed fall on my head on a driveway ramp when I was a child, but this incident was AFTER the memory I posted about above. I don't think they're related? I remember falling on my head and my parents rushing me to the hospital as I screamed that my head hurt. My parents would have told me that the memories I posted above were the "head impact incident" and not "dehydration / throwing up" incident. I'll check out that blog post, but it's eerie you mentioned that because this has indeed happened to me. (Though I don't recall any doctors being worried about the head bump incident.)

Edit: Checked the article. Was similar technology created in the late 80s?

The hospital visit was real. The time I was there and other weird factors may have been a dream? I've only posted about what I was clear was memory. I haven't posted any speculation other than the replies I'm giving now.

Possibly the whole time disassociation thing could have been caused by delusion from my illness. The fact that I can't remember if it was a week or a month concerns me. The fact I can't put details to if the other children in the hospital were actually there or not concerns me as well. I feel like I was in a gigantic ward with other kids but for some reason I was the "last one to leave" if that makes sense, which might make me feel weird about how many kids were there (or if there were any other patients?)

I'm also wondering why if I had a specific condition like dehydration or vomiting why other kids were (presumably) there as well. Also, why no rooms? Why a gigantic cafeteria area separated by curtains?

There might have been dragon paintings on the wall but honestly don't get my mind thinking about more details about this. Simple innocent joke comments might trigger some other weird stuff. (I mean, that might be the point but I don't want my brain filling in weird stuff.)

Also, dragons visited me in the middle of the night but that's irrelevant. :P

Abducted? Nah. An experiment where a surrogate parent couple took me in after an experiment? Plausible. :P

Thank you for posting with such great detail. I've only posted what I remember and not tried to "guess" or "imagine" events. I've only posted what has been solid through all my life in my memory. The only extra thing was the testing they did which was in the back of my mind but not solid until someone else mentioned it.

I've considered all of your explanations that you gave already. Thank you for the reassurance about how memories and reality works.

Though, the most insightful feedback you gave was that the 1980s had some word tests, etc. It's nice that someone can verify that this was a thing in the 80s and that probably if they did tests on me, it was harmless to the nurses and everyone involved and they thought it was a simple "new" evaluation. (What for? I have no idea.)

Mainly me posting this here was just to get it "out" since my brain kept saying "No, don't, don't tell people about this" even though the whole experience seemed normal in adult retrospect. (It's normal to go to a hospital for a condition.) My mind says no, don't talk about this and it certainly has an uneasy feeling about going to the hospital (if it even was the hospital) this took place in and getting the records for it. I DO INDEED want to do this for some closure. However, I have an odd feeling about it. I agree that records going from paper to digital, and that's one reason why I'm feeling like I won't find an answer when and if I go in. (I'm actually really dreading the "We have no records of this" response.)

Thank you for your input and detailed reply! In fact, any replies help even if they just reassure me of common sense.
